Innamorati places third in pole vault with personal best matching performance
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 2, 2016) – The Stonehill College men's track & field program wrapped up its weekend competing among 63 programs, including 43 at the NCAA Division I level, at one of the largest scored meets in the country on day three of the 51st annual Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary University, at Walter J. Zable Stadium and Dan Stimson Throwing Areas today.
Sophomore Anthony Innamorati (Clinton, Massachusetts/Clinton) highlighted Stonehill's Saturday performances as he finished third out of 21 entries in the University Division pole vault competition with a personal-best matching height of 14-feet, 1.25-inches. Freshman Daniel Bomba (Putnam Valley, New York/Iona Prep) placed 12th at a personal-best 13-01.50.
Freshman John Onken (Holbrook, New York/Sachem North) finished 13th out of 33 runners in the University Division 5000-meter run with his time of 15:31.99, while junior Daniel Nolan (Chelmsford, Massachusetts/Chelmsford) placed 15th in 15:33.16.
Sophomore Jonathan Naval (Stratford, Connecticut/Bunnell) placed 11th in the University Division triple jump with a distance of 41-feet, 9.75-inches.
Stonehill turned in a 14th place finish in the 4x1500-meter relay with a time of 16:21.27. Freshman Alexander Demeule (Merrimac, Massachusetts/Pentucket Regional) ran the lead leg, followed by classmate Lucas Taxter (Readville, Massachusetts/Xaverian Brothers), sophomore Sam Bradford (Bedford, Massachusetts/Bedford) and freshman Riley Dowd (Peabody, Massachusetts/Peabody Veterans Memorial) on the anchor leg.
Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay finished 18th, good for fourth among non-Division I entries, with a time of 3:25.97. Freshman Daniel Madsen (West Haven, Connecticut/Notre Dame-West Haven) ran the lead leg, followed by junior All-American Matt Baldasare (Mansfield, Massachusetts/Mansfield), sophomore Patrick Ahern (Charlotte, North Carolina/Providence Day School) and then sophomore Ruddy Severino (Methuen, Massachusetts/Methuen) on the anchor leg.

Stonehill's 4x800-meter relay finished 18th with a time of 7:58.25 as one of two non-Division I programs competing in the University Division event. Sophomore Jason Dimmick (Sutton, Massachusetts/Sutton) ran the lead leg, followed by freshman Stephen Vercollone (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke), junior Stephen Bomba (Putnam Valley, New York/Iona Prep) and then freshman David Lockhart (Stoughton, Massachusetts/Stoughton) running the anchor leg.
On Friday, sophomore Stefan Balestra (Lincoln, Rhode Island/Lincoln) competed in the Championship University Division of the hammer throw and placed 13th with a distance of 146-feet, 9-inches. He was one of just five Division II and III throwers in the championship division for the event. Senior Mason Griffin (Wellesley, Massachusetts/Wellesley) placed eighth out of 26 competitors in the University Division hammer throw with a distance of 136-feet, 11-inches, ranking second among non-Division I throwers. Griffin was also fourth out of 38 entries in the University Division shot put with a distance of 48-feet, 6.25-inches.
Junior Joe Santo (Newburyport, Massachusetts/Newburyport) finished 21st out of 43 entries in the University Division 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:45.35 – good for fourth among non-Division I runners in the event.
Stonehill competes at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by American International College, next Saturday in a preview of next month's Northeast-10 Conference Championships at 10 a.m. Stonehill will host its annual Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday, April 30, at 10:30 a.m.
