Skyhawks have posted three runner-up finishes in the past four outdoor championships
EASTON, Mass. (April 30, 2015) – The Stonehill College men's track & field team returns to action on Friday and Saturday at the 2015 Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut.
Stonehill, ranked fifth in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Computer Rankings, has posted runner-up finishes at three of the last four NE-10 Outdoor Championships.
Friday's action will get underway at 10 a.m. with the decathlon, while the men's pole vault is slated to begin at 2 p.m. and the men's 100-meter dash prelims are scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Live results and video streaming will be available via www.southernctowls.com.
Senior All-American Dan Zawalich (Paxton, Massachusetts/St. John's of Shrewsbury), the reigning NE-10 Outdoor champion in the 1500-meter run, will defend his title on Friday and is seeded second with a time of 3:52.67. Junior All-American Nick Kirkpatrick (Carmel, Indiana/Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) is seeded fourth in the 1500 and will also compete in the 800-meter run, where he is seeded fifth with a time of 1:53.90.
Seniors Bryan Wilcox (Plantsville, Connecticut/Southington) and Dan Gordon (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) are among six Skyhawks scheduled to compete in the 5000-meter run. Wilcox is seeded fifth (14:50.31), while Gordon is eighth (15:22.55).
Junior Mason Griffin (Wellesley, Massachusetts/Wellesley), who set a program record in the shot put at last Friday's Skyhawk Invitational, heads into Saturday's action seeded second in the event with a distance of 51 feet, 6.50 inches. Griffin is also slated to compete in the hammer throw along with freshman Stefan Balestra (Lincoln, Rhode Island/Lincoln) and junior Morgan Johnson (West Newburry, Massachusetts/St. John's Prep). Balestra is seeded third out of 17 entries with a mark of 164 feet, six inches, while Griffin and Johnson are seeded fourth and seventh, respectively.

Senior All-American Teague Grubel (Phoenix, Arizona/Shadow Mountain) is the top-seeded Skyhawk in both the 200 and 400-meter dash. Grubel, who finished fourth in the 200-meter finals last spring, is seeded eighth with a time of 22.11 seconds. He is seeded sixth in the 400, while sophomore Matt Baldasare (Mansfield, Massachusetts/Mansfield) is ninth with a time of 49.96 seconds.
Sophomore Joe Santo (Newburyport, Massachusetts/Newburyport), a fourth-place finisher in the 10,000-meter run a year ago in his first NE-10 Outdoor Championship appearance, is seeded fourth on Friday with a time of 32:01.39.
Senior All-American Nick Staley (Medway, Massachusetts/BC High), who has earned All-NE-10 honors for the high jump with runner-up finishes all three years of his career, is seeded third in the event with a mark of six feet, 6.75 inches.
The freshman duo of Dillon Neumann (Harwinton, Connecticut/Lewis Mills) and Anthony Innamorati (Clinton, Massachusetts/Clinton) is expected to earn points for the Skyhawks in the pole vault, as Neumann is seeded second and Innamorati third with matching marks of 13 feet, 7.25 inches.
Senior Robert Smith (Woburn, Massachusetts/Woburn Memorial) and freshman Jason Dimmick (Sutton, Massachusetts/Sutton) are seeded sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles with times of 56.21 and 57.33 seconds.
Stonehill's 4x800-meter relay is seeded first with a time of 7:37.74, while the 4x400-meter relay is seeded fourth with a time of 3:21.25.
