Senior All-American Dan Zawalich was within a second of the NCAA provisional qualifying standard for the 1500-meter run.

Zawalich and Kirkpatrick near NCAA provisional standards in 1500m & 800m 

PRINCETON, N.J. (April 17, 2015) – Senior All-Americans Daniel Zawalich (Paxton, Massachusetts/St. John's of Shrewsbury) and Nick Kirkpatrick (Carmel, Indiana/Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) both closed in on NCAA Championship provisional qualifying standards to highlight day one of the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, at Weaver Stadium this evening.

Zawalich placed 46^th out of 90 competitors in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:52.75, which is just 0.71-seconds shy of the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard of 3:52.04. He was 36^th among collegiate runners in the event and first among NE-10 competitors.

Kirkpatrick and fellow senior All-American Patrick Cooney (Douglaston, New York/Archbishop Molloy) both posted strong times in the 800-meter run. Kirkpatrick won his section and placed 49^th overall out of 98 entries with a personal-best time of 1:53.90, while Cooney finished 69^th in 1:54.84. Sophomore Duncan Burleigh (Hingham, Massachusetts/Hingham) placed 80^th with a time of 1:56.05. Kirkpatrick was 33^rd among collegiate runners in the event and second among NE-10 runners.

Senior Bryan Wilcox (Plantsville, Connecticut/Southington) wrapped up Stonehill's entries on day one of the Invitational by finishing 56^th out of 85 in the 5000-meter run by posting a personal-best time of 15:08.51.

Stonehill is back in action on Saturday when it competes at both day two of the Larry Ellis Invitational as well as the Holy Cross Invitational in Worcester starting at 11 a.m.
