Sutton, Massachusetts, freshman has strong weekend at BU's John Thomas Terrier Invitational

EASTON, Mass. (February 5, 2015) – Stonehill College freshman Jason Dimmick (Sutton, Massachusetts/Sutton) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Track Rookie of the Week for the time this season by the league office this week.
Dimmick posted a pair of strong performances for Stonehill at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational, hosted by Boston University, on Friday and Saturday. He ran the 800-meter leg of the Skyhawks' 4000-meter distance medley relay team that made its season debut with a second place finish in 9:52.38 to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, next month. He ran the 800-meter split in an unofficial time of 1:56.1 for the DMR on Friday night which posted the fourth-fastest time in the country to date. Dimmick then placed 59th out of 139 entries in Saturday's 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.48.
Dimmick has earned NE-10 Track Rookie of the Week honors for the second time after also collecting the award for the week ending January 20 after he finished second in the 600-meter run at the Tufts Invitational in 1:24.15. He has competed in four events for Stonehill in his freshman season, qualifying for the New England Championships later this month with his 600-meter time at Tufts. Dimmick also won the 800-meter run at the season-opening UMass Boston Opener on December 6 in 2:00.69 and has also run with Stonehill's 4x400-meter and 4x800-meter relays.
The Stonehill men's track & field program, ranked fourth in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Regional rankings, is back in action on Saturday when it competes at the University of Rhode Island Coaches' Tribute Meet at Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston, Rhode Island, at 11 a.m.
