Sutton, Massachusetts, freshman earns weekly honor for first time

EASTON, Mass. (January 22, 2015) – Stonehill College freshman Jason Dimmick (Sutton, Massachusetts/Sutton) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Track Rookie of the Week by the league office.

Dimmick helped Stonehill post a second place team finish at the Tufts University Invitational on Saturday with his second place finish in the 600-meter run, running a time of 1:24.15 to qualify for the New England Championships at Boston University next month. He was among seven top two individual finishes for the Skyhawks on Saturday, including two wins, as they compiled 145 points to trail only former Northeast-10 rival University of Massachusetts Lowell, which is in its second year competing at the Division I level, in the team standings. Dimmick was also part of Stonehill's 4x800-meter B-relay team that finished fourth on Saturday in 8:29.56.

Dimmick has gotten his collegiate career off to a fast start over his first two events. He won the 800-meter run at the season-opening University of Massachusetts Boston Indoor Open on December 6 with a time of 2:00.69 and also ran a leg for Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay that finished third in 3:33.55.

Dimmick is a 2014 graduate of Sutton High School where he was a Massachusetts State Champion in the 800-meter run and 400-meter hurdles.

Stonehill is back in action on Saturday when it competes at the Sorlien Invitational, hosted by the University of Rhode Island, at Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston, Rhode Island, at 11 a.m.
