Cooney, who earns NE-10 Track Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in his career, led Stonehill's performances on the track on Saturday by winning the one mile run with a time of 4:20.85 – the 15th-fasted mile time in the country, regardless of division, through the first weekend of the indoor season. He led a Stonehill sweep of the top two spots on Saturday, with three Skyhawks in the top four and four in the top ten out of 46 total entries. Cooney shaved nearly 12 seconds off his personal best for the mile after his previous best of 4:32.71 at this same event last year.

Cooney is a two-time All-American over the course of his career at Stonehill, having achieved the status twice as part of 4000-meter distance medley relay teams as a freshman and junior. He ran the 800-meter leg of last year's DMR that finished seventh at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 9:58.33. He ran the 400-meter leg of Stonehill's 2012 DMR team that placed sixth at the NCAA Championships in 10:04.69.

Cooney, who also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the 800-meter run last year, is a four-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East Region performer over his career. He has earned All-New England honors nine times over his career and All-Northeast-10 honors six times with NE-10 Championships for the indoor 800 last winter (1:53.56) and DMR in 2013 (10:17.73).

Neumann excelled in his first collegiate meet on Saturday by placing second in the pole vault by clearing a height of 13-feet, 5.25-inches. It marks the second-highest pole vault in the Northeast-10 after the opening weekend of the indoor season and he was one of two Stonehill freshmen to place in the top four out of 11 vaulters on Saturday.

Stonehill will compete at the Jay Carisella Invitational, hosted by Northeastern University, on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center to close out its first semester schedule.
