2012-13: Competed in seven meets for the Skyhawks on the indoor season as a sprinter. Placed 2nd at Reggie Poyau Invitational (12/7/12) in the 55-meter dash, running 6.59-seconds in the finals, a personal best. Saw success in the 60m event, placing 7th in the finals of the URI Coaches Tribute Invitational (2/2/13) with a time of 7.22-seconds, after posting a time of 7.20-seconds in the preliminaries, good for 5th. Finished 4th in the preliminary (7.11) and 5th in the finals (7.06) of the Northeast-10 Championships (2/16), a strong showing in the conference. Placed 18th at the New England Championships (2/23) with a time of 7.15-seconds. Also had six top-ten finishes in the 200m race, highlighted by a 4th-place finish at Reggie Poyau Invitational (23.24), a 5th-place finish at URI Coaches Tribute Invitational (23.05), and a 6th-place finish at the NE-10 Indoor Championships (22.67). Placed 19th in the 200m race (22.40) at the New England Championships.

2011-12: Competed in 14 races over the course of the season for the Skyhawks. Placed 7th overall in the 55-meter dash finals at the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Championships on February 18, 2012 with a time of 6.73-seconds. Posted his personal best time of 6.68-seconds in the 55-meter dash in the prelims of the event at the NE-10 Championsips. Also, finished 12th overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.06-seconds. Ran his personal best time (indoors) in the 200-meter dash (22.55-seconds) at the New England Indoor Championships on February 24, 2012. Ranked 39th out of 159 competitors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.62-seconds at the Boston University Valentine Invitational (2/11/12). Placed 3rd overall out of 61 competitors in the 20-meter dash at the New Balance Boston Collegiate Indoor Games (1/27/12) with a time of 22.88-seconds. Ranked 3rd overall in the 55-meter dash at the University of New Hampshire Tri-Meet (1/21/12) posting a time of 6.68-seconds in the finals. NE-10 Track Rookie of the Week (12/12).

Outdoor Season

2013: Participated in three meets for the Skyhawks. Placed 8th in both the 200-meter and 400m races at Bridgewater State Bears Invitational (3/23), with times of 23.76-seconds and 53.19-seconds, respectively. Finished 16th at Skyhawk Invitational (4/26) in the 100m race with a time of 12.83-seconds.

2012: NE-10 Track Rookie of the Week (4/9, 4/16, 4/30). Competed in five meets for the Skyhawks. Placed 9th/38 in the 100m (11.25 seconds) and 9th/40 in the 200m (22.88 seconds) at the UConn Spring Invitational. Notched a 1st/12 place finish as the 4th leg of the 4x100m (42.69 seconds), 6th/46 in the 100m (11.14 seconds) and 9th/61 in the 200m (22.65 seconds) at the George Davidson Invitational. Took 1st place in the 100m (10.89 seconds)  and 2nd in the 200m (22.22 seconds) at the Skyhawk Invitational. Finished 2nd in the 200m at the Holy Cross Crusades, with a time of 21.87 seconds. Placed 5th/45 in the 800m (1:55.44) and 4th/30 in the 100m (11.12 seconds) at the Brown Spingtime Invitational.

High School: 2011 graduate of Shadow Mountain High School. Four year letterwinner for coach Mike Giovando, serving as captain his senior year. Earned team's Matador Award. Also lettered in track as a sprinter, finishing as Arizona State runner up for 200-meters and region champion in 200m (twice) and 100m.

Personal: Born January 24, 1993, in Phoenix, Ariz. Son of Jerry and Peggy Grubel of Phoenix. Father played football at Wisconsin-Lacrosse. Had a cousin that ran track at Maryland and another that was a member of the track team at Fitchburg State. Undecided on academic major. Aspires a career in physical therapy for sports injuries. Supports the Green Bay Packers. Lists Darrelle Revis and Jim Leonard as favorite athletes.
