Kincade and Saintil break own school records, Thomas a double-winner
WORCESTER, Mass. (April 21, 2012) – The Stonehill College men's track and field team, ranked fourth in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Regional ratings index, placed third at the Holy Cross Invitational at Hart Track on Saturday.
Stonehill finished with 128.50 points for the day to finish behind team winner University of Maine with 206 points and host College of the Holy Cross with 139 in second place.
Junior All-American Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) and sophomore Xavier Harris-Dixon (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) swept the top two spots in the 110-meter high hurdles. Thomas won the event in 14.44-seconds, while Harris-Dixon took second in 15.04.
Thomas and freshman Nicholas Staley (Medway, Mass./BC High) also took the top two spots in the high jump, with Thomas winning the event with a leap of 6-feet, 8.75-inches. Staley cleared 6-6.75.
Senior Daniel Kincade (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) broke his own school record in the hammer throw with a distance of 169-feet, 9-inches, to placed third in the event. He surpassed his previous school mark of 169-06 set at the UConn Huskies Invitational on March 31. Sophomore Thomas Yates (Baldwin, Maine/Cheverus) placed fifth in the event with his throw of 140-05.

Yates also finished sixth in the discus throw with a distance of 123-feet, 1-inch, while Kincade was seventh at 117-04.
Sophomore Herby Saintil (Roslindale, Mass./BC High) broke his own school record in the triple jump with a distance of 46-feet, 0.50-inches to place third in the event on Saturday. He surpassed his previous best of 45-5.25 set just last weekend at the Skyhawk Invitational.
Stonehill claimed three of the top four spots in the pole vault, led by junior Luke Byrnes (Glen Head, N.Y./Chaminade) who cleared 14-feet, 11-inches to place first overall. Classmate Kevin McCann (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) and sophomore Ryan Perkins (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) tied for third as they both cleared 13-5.25.
Freshman Teague Grubel (Phoenix, Ariz./Shadow Mountain) made a run at the school record in the 200-meter dash as he finished second in 21.87-seconds – just 0.41 shy of the school mark.

Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay team placed fifth in 3:26.13. Grubel ran the third leg in 51.1-seconds, while senior captain John Driscoll (Revere, Mass./Revere) ran the lead in 52.2-seconds, followed by junior Colin Prior (Georgetown, Mass./St. John's Prep) in 51.4 and then freshman All-American Patrick Cooney (Douglaston, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) the anchor leg in 51.3.
Cooney and junior Timothy Johnson (Thomaston, Conn./Thomaston) ran third and fourth, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Cooney posted a time of 1:55.26 and Johnson finished in 1:55.86, while sophomore All-American Justin Blaszczyk (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) placed eighth in 1:56.35.
Prior placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 21-feet, 0.75-inches. Sophomore Alexander Willgoos (Newington, Conn./Newington) finished sixth at 20-5.00. Willgoos was also fifth in the high jump by clearing 5-feet, 10.75-inches.
Prior also finished eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.29-seconds, while sophomore Michael Harris (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) took tenth in 11.39.
Driscoll finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.43-seconds.
Freshman Daniel Cormier (Methuen, Mass./Methuen) placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 45-feet, 8.00-inches. Classmate Ian Parsons (Nashua, N.H./Nashua South) took sixth at 44-1.50.
Stonehill is back in action next weekend when it splits the squad between the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., Thursday through Saturday, as well as the Brown University Springtime Open in Providence, R.I., on Sunday.
