New Bedford, Mass., native earns weekly outdoor honors for second time
Harris-Dixon earns the weekly award for the second time this spring after earning All-New England honors in the 110-meter high hurdles to help Stonehill to a sixth place team finish at the New England Intercollegiate Track & Field Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University, this past weekend. He placed sixth overall inSaturday's final with a personal-best time of 14.68-seconds, good for third among non-Division I entries in the final. Harris-Dixon qualified seventh in Friday's preliminary heats in 15.03-seconds, second to eventual champion Jeremy Rosado from Sacred Heart University (14.64) in their heat.
Harris-Dixon, who has earned All-East Region honors for both the 110-meter and 60-meter (indoor) hurdles, has put the wraps on a strong freshman year for Stonehill. He earned All-Northeast-10 honors for both events this season, posting a second place finish for the 110 hurdles in 15.32 at the outdoor championships two weeks ago, while also placing second for the 55-meter hurdles in a season-best 7.73-seconds at the indoor championships in February.
During the outdoor season, Harris-Dixon also earned NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors after placing first at the season-opening Bridgewater State University Bears Invitational in March with his time of 15.22-seconds, marking his first collegiate victory. He also posted second place finishes to sophomore All-America teammate Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) at the George Davis Invitational (15.63) and Skyhawk Invitational (15.10).
During the indoor season, Harris-Dixon posted a season-best time of 8.46-seconds in the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles at the New England Championships before finishing 11th at the event. He also placed second at the University of New Hampshire Invitational (7.79/55m) and third at both the Jay Carisella Invitational (7.87) for 55-meters and Tufts Stampede (8.56) for 60-meters.
