Fullerton captures New England Championship in 1000-meters
Thomas posts pair of All-New England performances
Stonehill collected 32 points to finish in a three way tie for eighth with Sacred Heart University and the University of New Hampshire. The University of Connecticut took the team title with 119.50 points.
Senior Patrick Fullerton (Bradford, Mass./Haverhill) captured his first New England championship by taking the 1000-meter title with a time of 2:27.04, edging Brendan Medeiros from College of the Holy Cross by just 0.15-seconds in today's finals. Fullerton qualified second with a time of 2:29.88 in yesterday's preliminary rounds.
Sophomore Samuel Spencer (Seekonk, Mass./Seekonk) earned All-New England honors in the 1000 as well, with a time of 2:30.86. He qualified for the finals seventh in Friday's prelims with a time of 2:31.66.
Fullerton and Spencer also earned All-New England honors as part of Stonehill's 4x800-meter relay team that placed eighth in 7:51.36, good for second among Division II teams. Also running legs for the Skyhawks were sophomore Sean Hanlon (Georgetown, Mass./St. John's Prep) and freshman Justin Blaszczyk (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown).
Fullerton now has three All-New England performances to his credit during his senior year after placing tenth at the New England Cross Country Championships in October.

Sophomore All-American Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High), the Northeast-10 Conference Male Athlete of the Year, earned All-New England honors in two events for the second-straight year despite suffering his first high jump defeat this winter. He finished second to former NE-10 rival James Noel, now of Connecticut, by needing more attempts to clear the winning height of 6-feet, 11.75-inches.
Thomas, the defending New England indoor hurdles champion, placed third in the 60-meter high hurdles despite breaking his own school record with a time of 8.12-seconds in the finals. Thomas, who broke his previous best of 8.13-seconds set at the 2010 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, advanced to the finals with a time of 8.21-seconds in Friday's preliminary rounds and then posted a time of 8.13-seconds in the semifinal heats earlier today.
Senior Nathan Morse (Whitinsville, Mass./Holy Name) earned All-New England honors for the first time with a third-place finish in the 500-meter run in a school-record time of 1:03.74 in today's final. He broke teammate Pak Lul's (Portland, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) previous school record of 1:04.87 set at last week's Northeast-10 Championships. Morse was the lone Division II runner in the event finals after qualifying second with a time of 1:04.45 in Friday's preliminary round.

Sophomore Tim Johnson (Thomaston, Conn./Thomaston) placed 11th in the mile run with a time of 4:16.96.
Pak Lul qualified for the finals in the 400-meter dash with the sixth-fastest time on Friday night at 49.20-seconds, but was disqualified in the finals today with a breakline violation.
Freshman Xavier Harris-Dixon (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) advanced to the semifinal heats in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.46-seconds on Friday night for tenth fastest. He failed to qualify for the final, placing 11th in the semis with a time of 8.56-seconds, just 0.03-seconds shy of the final qualifying time for the finals.
Junior Stephen Polito (Worcester, Mass./Doherty Memorial) finished 16th in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:10.49. Senior Daniel Fidler (Carlisle, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) placed 25th in 15:25.84.
Sean Hanlon placed 17th in the preliminary round of the 800-meter run on Friday with a time of 1:53.94.
Senior Zachary Lankow (Saugus, Mass./St. John's Prep) finished 22nd in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:56.15.
Next up for Stonehill is the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, in Albuquerque, N.M., in two weeks. Thomas (high jump and hurdles) and the Skyhawks 4000-meter distance medley relay team have qualified for the event.
