Stonehill Second at New Hampshire Indoor Meet


Sophomore All-American Corey Thomas was placed first in both the 55-meter hurdles and high jump at the UNH Tri-Meet. 

Skyhawks post five first place finishes, Kincade breaks school record

DURHAM, N.H. (January 22, 2011) – Stonehill College returned to action following the mid-year break with a second place finish at the University of New Hampshire Tri-Meet at Paul Sweet Oval today.

Stonehill finished with 145 points to finish behind host New Hampshire's 212.50 points. College of the Holy Cross was third (119) and Worcester State College fourth (101.50) in the team standings.

Sophomore All-American Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) was a double-winner once again for Stonehill, winning the 55-meter high hurdles with his time of 7.68-seconds, edging freshman teammate Xavier Harris-Dixon (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) and his time of 7.79-seconds. Thomas qualified first for the final with a preliminary time of 7.77-seconds, while Harris-Dixon qualified third in 8.00-seconds flat.

Thomas finished in a first place tie in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet, 6.25-inches in his other event. He has won this event in all three indoor meets so far this season. Harris-Dixon was also eighth in the 200-meter dash in 24.82-seconds.

Sophomore Kevin McCann (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) won the pole vault with his height of 14-feet, 2-inches. Freshman Ryan Perkins (Shrewsbury, Mass./St. John's) placed fourth at 12-2.50.

Senior Patrick Fullerton (Bradford, Mass./Haverhill) led an army of Skyhawks competing in the mile run with his first place time of 4:20.25. Junior Steven Polito (Worcester, Mass./Doherty Memorial) was third in 4:23.31, while senior Dan Fidler (Carlisle, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) was fourth in 4:24.34. Stonehill had eight total entries, out of 19 total, in the event, placing seven in the top ten.


Junior Dan Kincade broke the school's indoor weight throw record. 

Fullerton also ran a leg for Stonehill's 4x800-meter relay team that took first out of seven teams with a time of 8:07.63. Senior Daniel Pilz (Newington, Conn./Newington) and sophomores Sean Hanlon (Georgetown, Mass./St. John's Prep) and Timothy Johnson (Thomaston, Conn./Thomaston) were also part of the winning team.

Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay team placed second in 3:32.00. Running legs for the Skyhawks were senior Nate Morse (Whitinsville, Mass./Holy Name), juniors Pak Lul (Portland, Maine/Yarmouth Academy) and John Driscoll (Revere, Mass./Revere) and sophomore Colin Prior (Georgetown, Mass./St. John's Prep).

Morse also placed second in the 400-meter run with his time of 51.52 – just .02-seconds from first place, with Lul right on his heels in third at 51.97. Prior took second in the 55-meter dash with his time of 6.67-seconds, after qualifying second with a time of 6.79-seconds – good enough to win his preliminary heat.

Junior Dan Kincade (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) led three Stonehill competitors in the weight throw with a school-record distance of 50-feet, 5.50-inches. He broke the previous record of 49-05.00 set by Matt Ellis at the 2002 Northeast-10 Conference Championships. Senior Patrick Fanning (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) was eighth out of the 17 competitors overall with a throw of 41-01.00. Fanning was also ninth in the shot put at 40-10.25.

Freshman Justin Blaszczyk (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) placed third in the 1000-meter run with his time of 2:36.93.

Sophomore Brandon Dunham (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 19-feet, 9.75-inches, while freshman Alex Wilgoos (Newington, Conn./Newington) was seventh at 18-07.25.

Senior Dan Newton (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) finished fifth in the shot put with a distance of 44-feet, 8-inches, edging sophomore John Gelcius (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) in sixth with a throw of 44-04.75.
Freshman Michael Harris (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 24.65-seconds.
Freshman Michael Amirault (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) finished fifth in the 3000-meter run in 9:05.46. Junior Corey Donahoe (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) was seventh in 9:06.44 as Stonehill had six entries, out of 17 total, in the event.
Freshman Thomas Banks (Peabody, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) placed fifth in the 500-meter run in 1:10.31.
Freshman Nikita Amelchenko (Canton, Mass./Canton) placed eighth in the 800-meter run in 2:08.50.
