Sophomore All-American earns weekly honor with pair of wins on opening weekend

EASTON, Mass. (December 7, 2010) – Stonehill College sophomore All-American Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Field Athlete of the Week for men's indoor track & field by the league office this afternoon.

Thomas, who earns the indoor field award for the second time in his career, posted a pair of first place finishes for Stonehill at the season-opening Jay Carisella Invitational on Saturday, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in both events. The indoor and outdoor All-American for the high jump as a freshman, picked up right where he left off in a spectacular freshman campaign by winning the 55-meter high hurdles with his time of 7.59-seconds – nearly two tenths of a second ahead of unattached runner Dominic Devaud in second place (7.78).
