Smithfield, R.I. - Led by Tom Kilby, who set a new school record in the javelin, Stonehill opened its outdoor season with a bang as several Skyhawks collected top three performances at the Bryant University Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Smithfield, Rhode Island.

Kilby's toss of 190 feet was good enough for second place at the meet but erased his own old mark of 186 feet three inches which he set in the Northeast-10 Championships last season at Bryant.

Meanwhile, Tyler Guilmette (Longmeadow, Mass.) picked up a victory in the long jump (6.59 meters). Guilmette also was a part of a pair of relay teams for Stonehill that had top five finishes. The 4x100 meter relay was second behind the University of Rhode Island and the 4x400 finished fourth behind Bryant and two different URI contingents.

In the 1500 meters, five of the top eight finishers hailed from Stonehill led by Josh Andrews (Chelmsford, Mass.) and his third place showing with a time of 4:04.87.

A similar scenario nearly unfolded in the 800 meters, as Kevin Gill (Brockton, Mass.) turned in a first place finish with a time of 1:56.88. Right on his heels was teammate Dan Pilz (Newington, Conn.) at 1:57.95. Ben Rumery (Dayton, Maine) wasn't much further behind in fourth place a 2:01.50.

Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.), in addition to his work in the 4x100 and 4x400, had a second place showing in the 100 meter dash and a fourth place finish and in the 200 meters.

Stonehill returns to action on Saturday when it hosts the second annual Skyhawk Invitational at W.B. Mason Stadium.
