Northeast-10 Conference Announces Weekly Honors: Week 4

EASTON, Massachusetts (March 16, 2020) – Junior Michelle Theilgard and freshman Courtney Brochu of the Stonehill College softball team were tabbed as Northeast-10 Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league on Monday.

Theilgard and Brochu assisted the Skyhawks to a 5-3 week in Florida, including a shutout against Saint Thomas Aquinas College, 4-0, and then a 3-0 win over Sioux Falls. Stonehill also saw victories over the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, 5-2, Dominican (N.Y.) College, 10-3, and Minnesota State University, Moorhead, 5-2.

Theilgard earned her first honor of the season as she led the Skyhawks with seven RBI. She went 11-for-21 at the plate with a .524 batting average. The junior scored a team high eight runs, as she tallied four doubles and two homeruns. She also walked seven times and stole one base for a .643 on base percentage. The infielder recorded just two errors on the field totaling nine putouts and 18 assists.

Brochu was named Rookie of the Week for the first time of her career as she went 9-for-17 in six games played this past week. She scored one run and totaled four RBI averaging .529 at the plate with one walk. In the field, Brochu recorded no errors with eight putouts and five assists.

The Skyhawks went 7-5 through their spring break trip and ended the week on a two-game win streak.
