Softball Duo Earns All-Conference Honors

EASTON, Massachusetts (May 1, 2019) – The Stonehill College softball team saw sophomores Michelle Theilgard and Genna Hartman earn Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference second team honors, as announced by the Conference on Wednesday.

Theilgard found her way to the second team for the first time in her career, as she was tabbed on the third team and All-Rookie team last season. This is the second-straight year that the sophomore has led the team in batting average as she swung .350 this season. She went 36-for-103 this season with 19 runs scored as she saw a .432 on base percentage and a career high five stolen bases. She lifted three long balls over the fence this season and a career high 10 doubles, while totaling 16 RBI, 15 walks, and a career low 10 strikeouts.

On the field Theilgard played third base and catcher, she saw a career low of eight errors in 33 games played with 52 putouts and 40 assists, while turning two double plays.

In the Conference, she ranks 11th in doubles, 12th in walks and on base percentage, 15th in batting average, 18th in homeruns, 36th in runs, 39th in RBI, and 40th in hits. The North Branford, Connecticut native had 10 multi-hit games this season

A 2017 graduate of Mercy High School in Middletown, Connecticut, Theilgard participated in cross country, basketball and softball. She was tabbed on the All-SCC team, Junior and Senior Select All-Star teams, CHSCA Umpires Association Scholar Classic, and first team All-State.

Hartman saw a career high in all offensive categories this season primarily as a designated player. At the plate she went 27-for-94 with five doubles and one homerun. The sophomore scored 11 runs for the Skyhawks as she knocked in 16 RBI, walked six times with one stolen base. Hartman averaged .287 at the plate with a .337 on base percentage ranking second on the team in both.

In 36 games this season, the sophomore also made seven appearances on the mound for the Skyhawks tossing 19.1 innings. Among NE10 statistical rankings, the sophomore is 39th in RBI, 44th in batting average, and 49th in on base percentage.

The East Granby, Connecticut native, Hartman graduated in 2017 from East Granby High School and was a four-time NCCC All-Conference team selection, a three-time Class S All-State team honoree, Rookie of the Year, and Connecticut High School Coaches' Association Scholar Athlete MVP.

The Skyhawks saw their eighth season with 15-plus wins under the guidance of head coach Ken LeGrice with a 15-24 overall mark and an 11-16 Conference record.
