EASTON, Mass. (May 2, 2018) – Freshman Michelle Theilgard (North Branford, Connecticut/Mercy) of the Stonehill College softball team was tabbed on the Northeast-10 All-Conference third team after a standout season, while Theilgard and classmate Hannah Ricker (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) were named to the All-Rookie Team, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.   

Both freshman are being honored for their first time by the conference.

Theilgard made her way to the third team as a third basemen ranking first on the team with a .358 batting average. The freshman also was named to the All-Rookie team totaling 38 hits in her 106 at bats and 39 games played. She also led the team in run scored, tying with Ricker with 15 runs. She also chipped in extra base hits in every category tallying nine doubles to rank second on the team, one triple, and five homeruns to lead the team. Her 25 RBI and 19 walks were also a team high. With her .449 on base percentage, she totaled two stolen bases and was only caught once in the attempt.

A native of North Branford, Connecticut, Theilgard had five games with two RBI and 10 multi-hit games this season. In her 23 games at third base, Theilgard had only three errors for a .953 fielding average.

Among NE10 statistical rankings, Theilgard finished fifth in on base percentage (.449), sixth in slugging percentage (.604), ninth in homeruns (5), 11th in walks (19) and batting average (.358), 15th in doubles (9), 17th in RBI (25), and 33rd in total hits (38).

A 2017 graduate of Mercy High School in Middletown, Connecticut, Theilgard participated in cross country, basketball and softball. She was tabbed on the All-SCC team, Junior and Senior Select All-Star teams, CHSCA Umpires Association Scholar Classic, and first team All-State.

Ricker, also selected for the All-Rookie team, finished second on the team with a .279 batting average. In 38 games played the freshman totaled 31 hits, second on the team, 15 runs scored, tying with Theilgard, and five stolen bases for first on the team. Ricker drew 10 walks in her 111 at bats this season tallying one double and two triples driving in four RBI.

The native of Scarborough, Maine played 34 games in the outfield for the Skyhawks and had six multi-hit games throughout the season.

A 2017 graduate of Scarborough High School, where she played soccer and softball, was named to a Junior and Senior All-Star and helped her team to the Class A State title.

The Stonehill College softball team concluded the season finishing with an overall record of 11-24, while being 8-17 in the NE10. The Skyhawks finished ranking sixth in the Northeast division.
