Acton, Mass. native went 11-8 with a 1.73 earned run average during the regular season
EASTON, Mass. (April 28, 2015) – Stonehill College junior pitcher Sarah Ropiak (Acton, Massachusetts/Acton-Boxborough) has earned All-Northeast-10 Conference third team honors for softball, the league office announced today.
Ropiak appeared in 20 games, making 16 starts in the circle for Stonehill during the regular season. She went 11-8 and compiled a 1.73 earned run average, good for third in the NE-10, while recording 65 strikeouts in a team-high 109.1 innings pitched. Ropiak limited opposing offenses to a .211 batting average and 35 runs (27 earned) on 85 hits while issuing 27 walks. She went the distance in 12 of her 16 starts, recording six shutouts with one save.
The Acton, Massachusetts native got the start in Stonehill's season-opening win over No. 23 nationally-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan College in Clermont, Florida and tossed a complete game, holding the Bobcats to two runs on six hits. Ropiak improved to 2-0 the next day with a five-hit shutout effort in an 8-0 win over Mercy College,
She recorded a season-high of six strikeouts on two occasions, including in her two-hit blanking of Merrimack College on April 10th. Ropiak earned NE-10 Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time in her career on April 14th, and gave up a combined five hits over a pair of shutout wins against Assumption College and Saint Anselm College on April 21st and 22nd.

The junior also made an impact at the plate, hitting .286 (14-for-49) in 23 games with two walks, two doubles, six RBI and six runs scored. She posted three multi-hit efforts, including a 3-for-4 performance with a double and three RBI against Mercy on March 9th.
Ropiak, who went 5-13 with a 4.58 ERA as a freshman at Division I Brown University, was 1-3 in five starts for Stonehill last season with a 6.14 ERA. A 2012 graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, she was a four-year letterwinner and three-time Dual County League (DCL) All-Star for the Colonials, earning DCL MVP honors as a senior. Ropiak was a member of teams that won four consecutive DCL Championships and the MIAA Division I North Championship in 2011.
Stonehill (20-14, 13-8 NE-10), which finished the regular season in second place in the NE-10 Northeast Division and secured a first round bye for the NE-10 Tournament, will play a second round contest on Thursday against the winner of the Southern Connecticut State University/Le Moyne College matchup on the campus of top-seeded Southern New Hampshire.
