Three Skyhawks Earn NE-10 All-Conference Honors

EASTON, Mass. (April 25, 2012) – Three members of the Stonehill College softball team have earned postseason honors from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) as selected by the league's 16 head coaches, it was announced earlier this week.

Junior first baseman Nicole Eisenmann (East Bridgewater, Mass./East Bridgewater), senior pitcher Samantha Krantz (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays) and sophomore designated player Lindsay McKillop (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) were all named to NE-10 All-Conference Second Team at their respective positions.

Stonehill's season concluded yesterday with a loss to the two-time defending NE-10 Tournament Champion Southern Connecticut State University, 4-3 (ten innings), in the opening round of the 2012 NE-10 Softball Tournament. The Skyhawks finished their season with an overall record of 24-15/17-13 in the NE-10. Stonehill set a new program record for conference wins this season surpassing the previous mark of 16 victories (16-1-1) set in 2001.

Eisenmann currently ranks third in the NE-10 in on-base percentage (.479) and fourth overall in batting average at a .408 (51-for-125) clip. Eisenmann led the Skyhawks in both of those categories and also ranked first in slugging percentage (.592), doubles (ten), walks (13) and finished second in hits with 51 on the season in 39 games played and 39 games started.

The junior first baseman, who was a NE-10 All-Conference First Team selection and All-Rookie Team member in 2010, batted. 427 (32-for-75) with runners on, .377 (20-for-53) with runners in scoring position, .625 (10-for-16) with runners on third and less than two outs and hit .319 (15-for-47) with two outs. Eisenmann knocked in six runs with two-outs in an inning, compiled a 13-game hitting streak, the second longest on the team from March 14 to March 31, had 19 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI games (both team-leading figures).

During her 13-game hitting streak, Eisenmann collected 28 hits including a 4-for-4 performance with one run scored and two runs batted in against the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in a 7-3 win on March 30. Eisenmann compiled 19 RBI's during that span and tallied 11 extra-base hits.

batting average at .408 on the season.

Eisenmann picked up one weekly award from the NE-10 this season as she was named the conference's Player of the Week on March 19. Eisenmann led Stonehill to a 6-2 week overall (1-1 NE-10) hitting .583/.655/1.042 with five doubles, two homers and nine runs batted in. Eisenmann also hit .636 with runners on, .556 with runners in scoring position, .417 with two outs and notched three 2-out RBI's. In the field, Eisenmann was perfect in 27 chances. On Saturday, March 17 in an 8-2 win against NYIT, Eisenmann fell a triple short of the cycle going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI's.

Krantz earns her first career postseason award from the NE-10 after closing out her Skyhawks career with a stellar season. Krantz currently ranks fourth overall in the NE-10 in earned run average (1.83), fourth in strikeouts per game (7.38), sixth in total strikeouts (129), eighth in batting average against (.226) and third in saves (two).

Krantz set two Stonehill program records on the year surpassing Deb Payne's single-season (1990) strikeout mark of 107 by more than 20 punchouts and shattered the career strikeout record of 227 set by Jill Paquette (1997-00) with 281 total. Krantz also ranks third all-time in single season wins with 12, third all-time for innings pitched in a career (375.2) and sixth all-time in career wins (24).

Sophomore Lindsay McKillop knocked in
a team-leading 32 RBI's for Stonehill.

The senior right-hander held opponents to a .154 batting average (30-for-195) with runners on-base, posted a 4.4 strikeout-to-walk ratio and struck out at least five batters in 15 games this season. Krantz fanned a career-high 14 batters in a 1-0 win over Le Moyne on April 7 pitching all eight innings. She also struck out ten batters in a 9-0 victory over Saint Anselm on April 18 and 12 more in a 4-2 loss to New haven on April 19.

In her career at Stonehill, Krantz has appeared in 89 games, made 47 starts, logged 29 complete games, tossed three shutouts, converted five saves, posted a 24-28 record in 375.2 innings pitched and compiled a 2.45 earned run average.

McKillop also collects her first career postseason honor from the NE-10 after putting together a .355/.425/.390 slash line at the plate for the Skyhawks. McKillop ranks 13th overall in the NE-10 in runs batted in with 32 and 19th in batting average. McKillop led Stonehill in homers (four) and RBI's putting together the only 30-plus RBI season on the squad.

The sophomore designated player hit .375 (24-for-64) with runners on, an identical .375 (18-for-48) with runners in scoring position, a team-leading .917 batting average with runners on third and less than two outs (11-for-12), .341 (14-for-41) with two outs in a frame and had a team-leading ten 2-out RBI's. She tallied 11 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games. McKillop strung together a seven-game hitting streak spanning from April 15 to April 22. McKillop collected 11 hits during that span including a 4-for-4 showing at the plate, one run scored and one RBI in a 5-2 loss to New Haven on April 19.

In the circle, McKillop registered a 3.60 ERA to go along with a 5-4 record overall. McKillop appeared in 12 games (five starts) and completed three contests striking out 18 batters over 60.1 innings. She also had a 2.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
