Freshman finished first overall in his first-ever collegiate race

EASTON, Mass. (September 10, 2012) – Stonehill College freshman Nick Kirkpatrick (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) men's cross country Rookie of the Week, it was announced earlier today.
In his collegiate debut at the Shacklette Invitational last Saturday, Kirkpatrick won his first-career race covering the 8-kilometer course in 27 minutes and 20.7-seconds.
Kirkpatrick's performance highlighted the Skyhawks first place finish overall as Stonehill placed all seven of its runners inside the top-10 to score 19 points and win the Shacklette Invitational for the second-straight season.
Kirkpatrick joins the men's cross country program at Stonehill College after a standout four-year career at Brebeuf Jesuit Prep School. Kirkpatrick, a two-time Academic All-State honorable mention, earned several accolades at Brebeuf Jesuit Prep including All-Marion County honors in cross country during his junior and senior seasons. Kirkpatrick was a member of the 4x800m All-State team and earned the Chiefs award in track during his senior season. Kirkpatrick also served as a captain for both the cross country and track & field teams as a senior.
Stonehill returns to action on Saturday, September 15 at the Minuteman Invitational hosted by University of Massachusetts at 11:30 a.m.
