Finished in 18th place and earned a 26:28 time at 8k NE-10 Championships. Posted a third place finish and a career-best 24:26 time at the Minuteman Invitational 8-kilometer race. 2011: NE-10 All-Conference First Team. NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll (Spring Semester). Finished sixth overall at the NE-10 Championships covering the 8-kilometer course with a season-best time of 24:27.43. Posted a time of 35:10.4 at the NCAA Division II National Championships (10-kilometers). Placed 33rd overall and 12th overall among Division II competitors at the National Catholic Championships on the 8-kilometer course in 25:35. Ran a time of 26:03 (62nd overall) at the New England Championships. NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll (10/24). Penney Earns NE-10 All-Conference First Team Honors.

2010: NE-10 Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll. Placed the Kutztown University Division II Challenge 8-kilometer course in 27:57 for 57th overall finish.

2009: NE-10 All-Conference Third Team. NE-10 Freshman of the Week (9/29). Placed 11th at the Bryant Invitational. Finished 21st overall at USI Pre-National Invitational. Placed 132ns at New England Championship. Finished 20th overall at NE-10 Championship to earn a third team All-Conference selection. Placed 28th overall at NCAA Division II East Regional meet in 31:11.9 on the 10-kilometer course. Placed 124th overall at NCAA Championship covering the 10-kilometer course in 34:17.4.

High School: 2009 graduate of Haverhill High School. Earned letters in track and cross country for coach Michael Maguire and captained the team as a senior. Earned All-Scholastic honors in 2007 and All-Conference honors in 2007 and 2008.

Personal: Born April 21, 1991, Boston, Mass. Son of Jennifer and Brian Penney of Haverhill, Mass. Has a sister, Elyssa (17), and a brother, Evan (14). Supports the New England Patriots and lists favorite athlete as Bernard Lagat.
