Bellio earns honors for third-straight year, Lisichenok for second time
2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District™ At Large Teams
Stonehill All-Time All-District™ honorees
EASTON, Mass. (May 17, 2018) – Stonehill College men's tennis seniors Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) and Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) have both been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District™ I Men's At Large First Team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members in Division II from the East Region, today.
Bellio is the first student-athlete from the men's tennis program to earn Academic All-District™ honors all three years of eligibility and just the third ever from Stonehill to earn All-District honors three times. Lisichenok joins Bellio as the only two student-athletes in program history to earn Academic All-District™ honors multiple years after being selected as a sophomore. The duo are two of four men's tennis student-athletes to receive a total of seven Academic All-District™ selections in program history – all coming within the last eight years. The pair are now eligible for Academic All-America® selection, as voted on by members of CoSIDA, to be announced in June. The CoSIDA men's at large Academic All-America® program includes student-athletes competing in fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Bellio, who has earned a 3.83 cumulative grade point average as a neuroscience major at Stonehill, competed at No. 1 singles and doubles all four years for the Skyhawks. In addition to his three-straight Google Cloud Academic All-District™ first team selections, Bellio was named the Edward E. Martin Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award recipient and has earned NE10 Academic All-Conference honors and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete honors, while being named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll all seven semesters at the College to date.
Bellio has been inducted to Nu Rho Psi National Honor Society, received the College's Neuroscience Award as the department's "Student of the Year," participated in Stonehill's Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program, where he worked with John McCoy, professor of psychology and director of the neuroscience program at the College, on Role of Glutamatergic Neurons of the Basal Forebrain, was accepted into the Gould Summer Scholars program at the College and into Stonehill's most selective study abroad program at DIS Copenhagen, where he studied at Roskilde University of Hospital under Denmark's leading neurologist, Dr. Troels Wesenberg Kjaer. Upon graduation this Sunday, Bellio has been accepted a full Doctoral scholarship to attend Boston University School of Neurology, where he will study in BU's world-renowned Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) Center.

Bellio reached the finals of the USTA/ITA East Regional B-Doubles bracket as a freshman and has earned All-NE10 honors at No. 1 doubles over the course of his career. The eight-time NE10 Player of the Week earned a spot on the NE10 All-Rookie Team as a freshman, when he also collected five NE10 Rookie of the Week awards, and finished his career with a combined singles and doubles record of 88-54, including 56-38 in doubles play. He posted a combined 17-16 record in singles and doubles play during his senior season, including a 12-5 doubles record with two different playing partners. Bellio and freshman Trent Newman (Old Greenwich, Connecticut/South Burlington) teamed up for an 11-4 mark at No. 1 doubles, including two wins over regionally ranked doubles teams.
Lisichenok, who has earned a 3.89 cumulative grade point average as a computer science and finance dual major, is a two-time All-NE10 performer over the course of his career at Stonehill after collecting third team honors at No. 3 doubles, along with classmate Tom Buckley (Hebron, Connecticut/RHAM), this spring. He received departmental "Student of the Year" honors from both the finance and computer science programs at the College this fall and is a member of Lambda Epsilon Sigma and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies. Lisichenok has received the St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, medal for having the highest cumulative grade point average on the men's tennis team three-straight years. He is a two-time NE10 Academic All-Conference selection, has received the Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award and been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll all seven semesters to date.
Lisichenok finished his career with a combined record of 79-67 over his career, including 37-33 in NE10 matches, posting a 48-33 doubles mark. He posted a 14-10 combined record in singles and doubles play during his senior year, including 9-6 in NE10 play. Lisichenok and Buckley teamed up for a 6-2 doubles record this season, winning all five NE10 matches during the regular season. Lisichenok was also 5-4 in singles play this season, including a 4-2 mark at No. 5 singles.
Stonehill finished its 2017-18 season with a 10-9 record overall, including 4-5 in the NE10 to earn a spot in the NE10 Tournament for a Conference record matching 18th time after a one year hiatus.
