EASTON, Mass. (April 16, 2015) – Stonehill College freshman Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Men's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Week by the league office.

Bellio, who earns both Player and Rookie of the week honors for the third time this season and Rookie of the Week accolades for the fourth time (second straight week), led Stonehill to a 4-0 week by posting a combined 6-1 record at No. 1 singles and doubles. He teamed up with freshman Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) to win all four doubles matches for the Skyhawks, while adding a 2-1 record in singles play. Bellio earned both singles and doubles points in Stonehill's 9-0 win at Saint Michael's College on Saturday and Sunday's 8-1 win against University of the Sciences. He and Lisichenok also recorded an 8-6 doubles win in Monday's 8-1 victory over American International College and an 8-3 decision in Thursday's 7-2 win over Assumption College.

Bellio is a combined 25-9 for Stonehill during his first collegiate season, posting a 10-5 mark in singles play and a combined 15-4 doubles record with two different playing partners. He is 10-3 overall this year for singles in dual match play, including a 4-2 clip in Northeast-10 play, to go with a 12-4 doubles record with Lisichenok, posting a 6-1 NE-10 record. Bellio was also recognized for his work in the classroom with a spot on both the Northeast-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll at Stonehill following the fall semester.

Stonehill (13-4, 7-1 NE-10), ranked ninth in this week's NCAA Division II East Regional rankings, is back in action this afternoon for a key Northeast-10 matchup with Merrimack College, ranked third in the region, at North Andover High School at 3 p.m. The Skyhawks return home to close out the regular season on Saturday as it hosts Le Moyne College for its Purple & White match on Senior Day at 1 p.m.
