EASTON, Mass. (March 31, 2015) – Stonehill College posted its first win over rival Bentley University, ranked tenth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, in over six years with a 7-2 triumph in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Seniors Tom Alaimo (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) and Jon Sanders (Holbrook, New York/Saint Anthony's) as well as freshmen Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) and Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Massachusetts/Danvers) were all double-winners to lead Stonehill. The win snaps a string of six straight Skyhawk defeats to Bentley dating back to a 6-3 victory over the Falcons on March 27, 2009.

Bellio and Lisichenok teamed up to post an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles as Stonehill set the pace for the win by taking two of the three doubles matches. Lisichenok wrapped up the deciding point for the Skyhawks with his 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles against Bentley sophomore Chase Rosa (Hampton, New Hampshire/Berwick Academy). Bellio added a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 1 singles against freshman Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth).

Alaimo and Sanders combined for an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles for Stonehill and then Alaimo followed that up with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 2 singles against Bentley junior Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland). Sanders also gutted out a 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 10-8 victory at No. 5 singles against junior Evan Chomka (Warwick, Rhode Island/Bishop Hendricken). Junior Philip Klados (Lake Forest, California/Santa Margarita Catholic) earned an important singles win for the Skyhawks by edging freshman Daniel Camacho (Bogota, Columbia) at No. 6.

Rosa and junior Sam Frye (Redlands, California/Redlands) earned Bentley's lone doubles point with their 9-7 win at No. 3. Freshman George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao) also earned a point for the Falcons with his 6-4, 7-5 decision at No. 3 singles against Stonehill senior Jared Drzal (West Sayville, New York/Sayville).
