Stonehill Shuts Out Endicott, 9-0


Senior Tom Alaimo posted wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles for the Skyhawks this afternoon.

Bellio and Alaimo lead Skyhawks double-winners 

EASTON, Mass. (October 4, 2014) – Stonehill College rolled to a 9-0 victory over Endicott College in non-conference men's tennis action in the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex this afternoon.

Senior Tom Alaimo (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) and freshman Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Michigan/Saint Joseph) led the way for Stonehill as double-winners in the match. Alaimo and classmate Eric Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska/Monroe Catholic) combined for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while Alaimo added a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles against Endicott junior Eric Pierce (Barrington, Rhode Island/Barrington). Ringstad also battled past junior Michael Dolph (Stratford, Connecticut/Bunnell) at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 10-2.

Bellio and freshman Nikolay Lisichenok (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) breezed to an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles for Stonehill. Bellio followed that up with a 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 11-9 triumph against freshman Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Massachusetts/Newburyport). Lisichenok rounded out the Skyhawk double-winners with his 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles against senior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Massachusetts/Winchester).

Senior Jared Drzal (West Sayville, New York/Sayville) and junior Philip Klados (Lake Forest, California/Santa Margarita Catholic) each chipped in points for Stonehill with their wins at No. 6 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Senior Jon Sanders (Holbrook, New York/Saint Anthony's) and freshman Jeffrey Gagnon (Providence, Rhode Island/The Wheeler School) rounded out the Skyhawks three doubles wins with their 8-3 decision at No. 3.

Stonehill (3-0, 2-0 NE-10) closes out its fall dual match schedule on Wednesday, when it hosts Clark University for a non-conference matchup at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 4 p.m. Endicott (1-1, 0-0 CCC) hosts Colby-Sawyer College on Tuesday, October 14, at 3 p.m.
