EASTON, Massachusetts (October 12, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team fell to nationally-ranked Adelphi University, who is ranked No. 4 in the country, with a score of 1-0 Saturday morning on Skyhawk Field in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Stonehill (3-7-1, 1-4-1 NE10) saw Andrew Hammersley with seven saves. Adelphi (10-0-1, 6-0-1 NE10) saw Filippo Peri with the goal and Ofek Pinto with the assist.  

In the first half, Adelphi outshot Stonehill 10-6, as the Panthers notched the lone goal in the 18th minute of the game. In a back-and forth battle at midfield, Pinto moved the ball forward through the defense and Peri was able to take one dribble before volleying it to the right side of the goal for a 1-0 lead at 17:46. Stonehill continued to fight back, but Adelphi three more shots on goal before the end of the first half.

For the first 14 minutes of the second half, Stonehill saw most of the possession, as Ian Pereira got off back-to-back shots in the 48th minute, as they just went wide left of the goal. The Skyhawks continued to put the Panthers on their heels throughout the second half as they outshot Adelphi 8-4 and saw six corner kicks creating chances for Stonehill. With 15 minutes remaining in regulation, the Skyhawks' defense held strong, as the Panthers saw two wide shots before time expired.

The Skyhawks aim to bounce back as they travel to Springfield, Massachusetts to face NE10 foe American International College on Friday, October 18 for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
