WALTHAM, Massachusetts (October 9, 2019) – The Stonehill men's soccer team fell to Bentley University with a score of 1-0 Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Stonehill (3-6-1, 1-3-1 NE10) saw Andrew Hammersley with seven saves. Bentley (6-3-0, 4-1-0 NE10) saw Julian Stewart with the lone goal, while Matthew Lencioni tallied the assist and goalkeeper Nick Maldarella tallied two saves.

The Skyhawks opened the game with strong defense as they didn't allow a shot on goal until the ninth minute. In the 14th minute, Colby Gould sent a strike to the right side of the net and Hammersley was able to pick up the save. At 27:58, Daniel Pereira sent in a long cross from about 35 yards out, landing just outside the six-yard box, finding Keegan Nutt as he was able to head the ball down but the Falcons' Maldarella was there to make the save. A minute later, Ian Pereira saw a shot of his own that went wide of the post.

Bentley connected on three-straight shots in the 30th minute, as Patrick McMahon struck one that Hammersley saved, and McMahon put back at a Skyhawk defender before Stewart pushed it through a scrum of players inside the box for a 1-0 lead at 31:10.

The Falcons didn't allow a single Skyhawk shot in the second half, as Bentley totaled 18 shots in the game to Stonehill's five. Both teams reached double digits in fouls, but neither team was able to capitalize on a set piece.

The Skyhawks will take on their first nationally-ranked opponent in No. 4 Adelphi University on Saturday, October 12 on Skyhawk Field with a start time of 11:00 a.m.
