EASTON, Mass. (October 5, 2015) – Stonehill College senior goalkeeper Luke Besse (Hamilton, Massachusetts/Hamilton-Wenham Regional) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time in his career, the league office announced today.

Besse helped lead Stonehill to a 1-0-1 record in two matches last week, posting a pair of four-save shutouts in a 0-0 draw with Assumption College on Tuesday and a 3-0 win over Saint Michael's College on Saturday. The clean sheets were the first two of the season for Besse, who has now registered five in his career.

The Hamilton, Massachusetts native is the first Skyhawk to earn NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Week honors in over two years, as Adam Colella, '15, was recognized on September 16th, 2013.

Besse has started eight of Stonehill's ten matches this season, posting a .690 save percentage and a 1.58 goals against average with 29 saves in 740 minutes between the posts. In 27 career appearances and 24 starts, he is 13-10-2 with a .664 save percentage and a 1.79 GAA in 2309:21 minutes of action. Academically, Besse has been named to two NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Rolls, earning Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognition once.

A 2012 graduate of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, Besse earned All-Cape Ann League and Salem Evening News All-Star honors as a senior.

Stonehill (5-4-1, 2-3-1 NE-10) will look to get back to .500 in conference play on Saturday, when Adelphi University visits Skyhawk Field for an 11 a.m. contest.
