Men's Soccer Honored with NSCAA Team Academic Award

EASTON, Mass. (September 28, 2015) – The Stonehill College men's soccer team has been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with a Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year, it was announced last week.

The NSCAA annually honors high school and college soccer programs that excel in the classroom in addition to their work on the field. Stonehill is among 310 men's collegiate programs to earn Team Academic Awards for posting a grade point average of 3.0 or higher last year. Head coach Jim Reddish's Skyhawks have now been recognized three consecutive years after turning in a 3.14 GPA in 2014-15.

Stonehill enjoyed one of its most successful seasons in 20 years last fall. The Skyhawks finished 11-6-1, the most victories for the program since 1993, including a program record nine wins in conference play. Stonehill, which was picked eleventh in the NE-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll, finished fourth in the league standings and hosted an NE-10 Tournament match for the first time since 1994. Reddish, who is now in his eighth season at the helm of his alma mater, was named NE-10 Coach of the Year for the first time in his career following the season.

Stonehill is off to a 4-4 (1-3 NE-10) start through eight matches this fall, and is back in action tomorrow at 4 p.m. against Assumption College at Skyhawk Field.
