Drew Montano

EASTON, Mass. (November 1, 2012) – Stonehill College freshman forward Drew Montano (Avon, Conn./Avon) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) All-Rookie Team earlier today in a vote by the league's 14 head coaches.

Montano started in every game (17) during his first collegiate season for the Skyhawks leading the squad in points with 13 total on the season. Montano scored a team-high four goals, including two game-winners, and tied for the team lead in assists with five.

On September 1 against Concordia (N.Y.), Montano deposited his first career collegiate goal in 20th minute of the contest and notched his first career game-winner in the 50th minute. Montano's other game-winning marker came against Saint Anselm College on October 23 in the sixth minute of play in a 1-0 victory.

Montano currently ranks 13th overall in the NE-10 in points and fifth overall in assists. Among all freshman scorers, Montano is tied for third in goals in the Conference and second overall in points. Montano's 13 points this season are the most a freshman has scored for the Skyhawks under head coach Jim Reddish (2008-present) at the College.

Montano is the second member of the Stonehill College men's soccer program to earn NE-10 All-Rookie Team honors since the Conference started recognizing the squad in 2008 joining current sophomore goalkeeper Adam Colella (Wilmington, Mass./St. John's Prep.) who was lauded by the NE-10 in 2011.

Stonehill finished its 2012 season with a 5-11-1 record overall and 4-9-0 mark in the NE-10. The Skyhawks will enter their 2013 campaign on a three-game winning streak and a 195-minute and 43-second shutout streak.
