Montano Earns NE-10 Select Sport Rookie Of The Week Honors

Skyhawks freshman forward collects award for second-straight week

EASTON, Mass. (October 29, 2012) – Stonehill College men's soccer freshman forward Drew Montano (Avon, Conn./Avon) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Select Sport Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week and third time this season by the league office, it was announced earlier today.

Montano deposited the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Saint Anselm College on Tuesday and assisted on the game-winning marker in a 2-0 triumph versus UMass Lowell on Saturday.

Montano wraps up his freshman campaign as the leading scorer on the Skyhawks this season with four goals and five assists for 13 points total. Montano ranks 12th overall among all players in points in the NE-10 and is tied for fifth overall in assists in the Conference.

The freshman forward received NE-10 Select Sport Rookie of the Week accolades a week ago as he factored into three out of four of Stonehill's goals in a 4-2 win over The College of Saint Rose.

Stonehill finished its season with a 5-11-1 record overall and 4-9-0 mark in the NE-10. The Skyhawks closed out their 2012 campaign on a three-game winning streak outscoring opponents 7-2 during that stretch. In two of those games, Stonehill posted a pair of shutouts.
