Stonehill Places Three on All-Conference Squad

Agan earns All-NE-10 honors for second time; White, Shigo each make first appearance

Michael White

EASTON, Mass. (November 2, 2010) – Three members of the Stonehill College men's soccer team have this week been named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Team by the conference's head coaches. Junior forward Michael White (Lisbon, N.H./Lisbon Regional) was a second team selection, and junior back Christopher Agan (Niskayuna, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and senior midfielder Todd Shigo (Naples, Maine/Lake Region) were named to the third team.

Their selections mark the first time Stonehill has placed three players on the All-Conference squad since 1995, prior to the NE-10's expansion to 14 member institutions.

White earns All-Conference honors for the first time, after leading the NE-10 in goals (nine) and points (22) during the regular season. He posted two multi-goal games and two game-winners, and scored twice during the final week of the regular season as the Skyhawks went 2-0-1 down the stretch to claim a playoff spot for the first time since 1999.

Christopher Agan

White netted two goals in a 4-3 win over American International College, and scored another double with two goals and an assist to beat UMass Lowell. He converted a penalty kick for the eventual game-winner in Stonehill's 2-1 victory over Saint Anselm College on October 9, their first since 2004. White also scored in the Skyhawks' 2-0 upset of regionally-ranked Le Moyne on October 23 to kick off Stonehill's strong final week.

With his second consecutive appearance on the All-Conference third team, Agan becomes Stonehill's first two-time honoree since 1999. He leads a Skyhawk defense which this season posted a team goals against average of 1.21, nearly half a goal better than last year's mark, and ranked seventh in the NE-10 with six shutouts. During the final week of the season, Stonehill held opponents to just five shots on goal in putting up three straight shutouts to earn a postseason spot.

Todd Shigo

Shigo, who earns his first career All-Conference selection, tallied a goal and four assists as the midfield leader and a senior captain for the Skyhawks. In his top performance of the season, he notched a goal and an assist in Stonehill's upset victory over Le Moyne. He also picked up assists in a 2-0 victory over Queens College and a 4-0 win over UMass Lowell.

Seventh-seeded Stonehill (7-7-2, 5-6-2 NE-10) will visit second-seeded Southern Connecticut State University (12-2-2, 9-2-2 NE-10) in an NE-10 quarterfinal matchup this afternoon at 4 p.m.
