Skyhawks Fall 1-0 To Defending National Champions
Rindge, N.H. - The Skyhawks allowed a first half goal to defending national champion Franklin Pierce but were unable to put in an equalizer in the second and fell to the Ravens 1-0.
Franklin Pierce, which is unbeaten in their last 20 NE-10 matches,
scored their lone goal in the 35th minute.
Grad student Casey Ftorek took a shot from the top of the 18 that
got past keeper Brandon McFarlane (Norwich, Conn.)
and was tapped in by freshman Viktor Gonçalves for a one
goal lead going into the half.
The second half saw Stonehill match the Ravens with six shots
apiece, including a Tyler Hebert (Rockland, Mass.)
shot that hit the cross bar with just under four minutes
remaining.
McFarlane had nine saves in net for the Skyhawks, who dropped to
2-4-1 on the season.
Stonehill returns to action on Tuesday, September 30, when they
play host to Mercy at 4:00 pm.
