EASTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Daniel Holley (Manorville, N.Y.) netted a pair of goals and added an assist for a five-point performance in leading Stonehill to a 3-0 Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer victory over Saint Rose Wednesday afternoon in the league opener for both squads at Skyhawk Field.

Holley gave the host Skyhawks (2-0, 1-0 Northeast-10) the only goal they would need 6:06 into the second half when he converted feeds from freshman Shaun Keeley (Woburn, Mass.) and senior Derek Hebert (Rockland, Mass.), and he extended the hosts' edge to 2-0 in the 81st minute on assists from Keeley and senior Joseph Sousa (Shelton, Conn.). Keeley, who finished with four points on the afternoon, closed out the Stonehill scoring with 2:35 remaining by converting a breakaway on feeds from Holley and freshman Ben Irzyk (Wakefield, R.I.).

Sophomore Danny Kerl (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) picked up his second straight shutout win in goal for Stonehill with a five-save effort, while junior Peter Cappiello (Lakeland, N.Y.) also made five stops in net for the visiting Golden Knights (1-2, 0-1 Northeast-10) as the Skyhawks outshot Saint Rose by a 20-13 margin for the match.

Stonehill travels to Syracuse, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon to take on 21st-ranked LeMoyne in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Saint Rose hosts UMass Lowell in a Northeast-10 match on Saturday afternoon in Albany, N.Y. at 2:00 p.m.
