October 18, 2006

Stonehill College sophomore midfielder Thomas Hernon has been named to the 2006 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Soccer Academic All-Conference squad as voted by the league's 15 sports information directors.

Hernon, a native of Mansfield, Mass. and a graduate of Mansfield High School, earned a spot on the second team Academic All-Conference squad for his efforts in the classroom, as he has posted a 3.59 cumulative grade point average as a Biology major at Stonehill. Hernon is a two-time selection to the Stonehill Athletic Director's Honor Roll as well.

Hernon has appeared in 33 career contests for Head Coach Jose Gomes's Skyhawks, including all 16 this season in which he posted an assist in Stonehill's 6-0 victory over Bloomfield on October 9th. He also recorded a goal in 17 appearances as a freshman in 2005.

Stonehill has posted its highest single-season win total in seven years this fall with seven victories to date, including three triumphs in Northeast-10 play highlighted by a 3-2 win over nationally-ranked Merrimack back on September 6th. The Skyhawks close out their 2006 campaign with a conference match on Saturday afternoon at UMass Lowell.
