FOXBORO, Massachusetts (November 16, 2019) – The Stonehill College ice hockey team fell to Saint Anselm College Saturday night at Foxboro Sports Center in game two of the three-game series, 3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference play.

By the Numbers:

  • Stonehill's (1-3-1, 0-3-1 NE10) senior Cameron Wright scored the lone goal for the Skyhawks with his third tally of the season and 26th of his career. Junior Kayser Raei and senior Ryan Meade  assisted in the goal.
  • In his 10th game of his career, Matthew Schoen registered 41 saves.
  • For Saint Anselm (3-2-1, 2-0-1 NE10), three different goal scorers gave the Hawks' their second NE10 win of the season, including Anthony Iacullo, Mike Ferraro, and Liam O'Sullivan. Iacullo also chipped in two assists, while O'Sullivan and Trevor Hott each recorded a helper.
  • The Hawks' goaltender, Nick Howard stopped 24 pucks in the win.
  • The Hawks outshot the Skyhawks 45-25, as Saint Anselm capitalized on two of four power play opportunities and Stonehill was unable to find the back of the cage with three power play opportunities.

How It Happened:

  • The Hawks outshot the Skyhawks 13-8 in the first period, as Stonehill was able to kill the penalty at 16:09 with Saint Anselm only tallying one shot on goal and a blocked shot during that time. Fifty one seconds before the end of the period, Schoen was faced with multiple shots, as Stonehill tried to clear the puck but the Hawks' defense prevailed with Hott putting the dish in front of the net for Iacullo to put Saint Anselm up 1-0 at 19:09.

Both teams were called for three penalties each in the second period and Saint Anselm put two goals away during two of the power plays. At 7:33 in the second frame, Ferraro extended the Hawks' lead to two, 2-0, as he put the puck away in the top shelf with assists from O'Sullivan and Iacullo.
  • Stonehill quickly responded 11 seconds later, as they won the initial faceoff and Raei found Meade on the right circle. Meade then sent the puck across the crease to Wright for his third goal of the season and 26th goal of the season cutting the deficit to one, 2-1.
  • With a faceoff in the Hawks' offensive third, O'Sullivan sent the puck through a scrum in front of the cage with 17 seconds remaining in the power play during the Skyhawks' third penalty of the game at 13:13.
  • Stonehill and Saint Anselm received a penalty each in the third period and the Hawks controlled the puck for most of the frame, as they outshot the Skyhawks 12-8.
