WORCESTER, Massachusetts (February 2, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team fell 5-4 against Northeast-10 Conference foe Assumption College Saturday night at Buffone Arena.

For Stonehill, (6-12-1, 1-8-1 NE10), Jack Hall, Jack Scannell, Ryan Meade, and Zachary Frament scored the goals. Michael Seibold, Logan Stark, Nick Schofield, Charles Page, Shamus Maloney, Tim Grable, and Seth Murray each chipped in assists, while Chase McKay totaled 29 saves in the game.

Stonehill got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period with two goals within less than a minute of each other. Hall recorded the first goal at 2:48, his fourth of the season and 17th of his career with helpers from Maloney and Seibold. Scannell followed with his fourth of the season and 10th of his career at 3:36 with assists from Stark and Murray. Assumption saw four power play opportunities following the Skyhawks' two-goal lead, and capitalized on the third one with 19-seconds remaining in the power play. The Greyhounds' Brendan Philippon cut the deficit to one at 14:13, 2-1, and 20-seconds later Stonehill drew another power play but they were able to hold Assumption back from scoring before the Skyhawks saw their first power play opportunity at 17:14.

The Greyhounds' Matt Drake tied the game at two, 2-2, with a goal at 9:25 in the second period and Assumption held a 12-7 shot advantage.

Stonehill found the back of the cage in the third period at 1:37 as Meade chipped in his seventh goal of the season and ninth tally of his career, to put the Skyhawks up one, once again, 3-2. Assumption then scored three goals in the frame to get ahead for the first time in the game with two goals from John Pigott and a power play goal from Robert Holyoke. Later in the period, Frament picked up his second goal of the season and fourth of his career at 13:43 for his XX power-play goal of the season. The Skyhawks' offense continued to pressure the Greyhounds' defense with a 5-2 shot advantage following Frament's goal, but Stonehill was unable to tie the game giving Assumption the third game of the series.

The Skyhawks will host Saint Michael's College for its final game of the three-game series on Wednesday, February 6 at New England Sports Village with a puck drop at 6:10 p.m. for the makeup of the January 20th postponement.
