Six different goal scorers send Skyhawks past Post for second-straight win

SHELTON, Connecticut (January 26, 2019) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team won its second-straight game with an 8-3 score over non-conference foe Post University Saturday night at the Sports Center of Connecticut. The eight goals were the most scored by the Skyhawks since February 11, 2017 when the team defeated Southern New Hampshire University, 8-0.
For Stonehill, (6-10-1), Charles Page and Shamus Maloney chipped in two goals each, while Cameron Wright, Jack Scannell, Mike Seoane, and Ryan Meade tallied one goal each. Meade saw his second-career multi-point game, with three points total and Christopher Page registered two points. Nicholas Godin, Connor Jewett, Jack Hall, Kayser Raei, and Connor Collier recorded one assist each. Junior goaltender Matthew Schoen tallied 34 saves in his second-career win.
Post saw the first penalty of the game at 4:33 in the first period and they fended off Stonehill's offensive attack. Later in the frame, the Eagles saw back-to-back penalties and the Skyhawks capitalized on both. Charles Page scored his first power play goal of the season to put Stonehill up 1-0 at 15:16, and a little over a minute later, Meade scored his second power play goal of his career at 16:30, for a 2-0 lead. Post answered back with two goals in just over two minutes, from Ryan Mcnelis and Jake Raleigh, 2-2, for a tied game heading into the locker room.
The second period saw Stonehill score five times with one power play goal and Post scored once. Wright and Scannell scored within 30 seconds of each other putting the Skyhawks up 4-2 at 5:35, while the Eagles answered at 8:32 as Anthony Giacomin cut the deficit to one, 4-3. Stonehill then scored three times, as Seoane recorded his first-collegiate goal at 15:46. A minute later, at 16:48, Maloney scored for his ninth goal of the season and Charles Page picked up his second tally of the game for his eighth goal of the season at 18:07 for a four goal lead, 7-3.

Post had three power play opportunities in the third period, while Stonehill had one and neither team was able to capitalize on the moments. However, Stonehill expanded its lead to five, 8-3, as Maloney scored his second goal of the game, 10th goal of the season, and 19th of his career 18-seconds before time expired, 19:42.
The Skyhawks will take on Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday, January 29 for the final game of the series at Foxboro Sports Center with a puck drop at 7:00 p.m.
