Ice Hockey Drops 4-3 Decision to UMass Dartmouth

NEW BEDFORD, Massachusetts (December 1, 2018) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey fell in non-conference action, 4-3, against UMass Dartmouth Saturday night at Hetland Arena.

For Stonehill, (2-6-0), Connor Jewett, Cameron Wright, and Charles Page each chipped in a goal, while Michael Seibold, Sean Conley, Jack Hall, and Seth Murray each registered an assist.

The Corsairs jumped out to a 1-0 lead, 4:35 into the contest as Jonathan Ruiz capitalized on a power play that started at 4:11 from a Skyhawks penalty. Stonehill put up the equalizer 41 seconds later, as Jewett scored his third goal of the season at 5:16 in a short-handed situation. Seibold and Conley assisted Jewett in his 12th goal of his career. Umass Dartmouth saw three more opportunities in the first period as Stonehill was called for three penalties and the Corsairs were called for two other penalties.

Stonehill saw its first advantage of the game, 2-1, 1:11 in the second frame, as Wright put up his second goal of the season with assists from Hall and Murray. The Corsairs forced the second tie of the game at 2:08, 2-2, with a tally from Blake Harlow. Each team saw one power play each in the second frame, as UMass Dartmouth would capitalize on its second power play of the game at 14:52, as Eric Bolden chipped in the puck for the Corsair's second lead of the game, 3-2.

UMass Dartmouth would see the shot advantage at the end of game, 27-23, but another close frame in the third, saw Stonehill with seven shots to the Corsair's six. At 4:47, Bolden put away his second goal of the game, this time with Dillon Radin's assistance for a two-goal lead, 4-2. The Skyhawks found a way to cut the lead to one, 4-3, and at 19:54, Page registered his second goal of the season. The Skyhawks called a timeout following the unassisted goal, but the Corsair's defense held true to give UMass Dartmouth a 4-3 victory.

Stonehill will travel to Colchester, Vermont on Tuesday, December 4 for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup against Saint Michael's College with a puck drop at 7:00 p.m.
