Late in the second period, Saint Michael's took an early 1-0 lead, with a tip in from Jordan at the right post from Salzillo's cross from the left side. The Purple Knights were able to string together three shots prior to the goal, as they capitalized on Stonehill's short handed opportunity at 17:26.

Hall chipped in his second helper of the season

Maloney netted the equalizer at 6:33 in the third period after a shot by Michael Seibold (Reading, Massachusetts/Williston Northampton), as Wright and Hall sent passes through the defense for a shot from the left circle trickling past the goaltender, 1-1. The Purple Knights would not let up, as D'Antuono sent one at Billy Palmer (Cranston, Rhode Island/Boston Bandits –EHL Premier) who was able to stop the shot, but D'Antuono would follow up by finding the back of the cage at 10:51 with helpers from Hermary and Santangeli. Twenty-one seconds before Saint Michael's power play was up, Ouellette sent a shot to the high slot from inside the blue line for the Purple Knights' second power play goal of the game, 3-1, at 16:01. The Skyhawks tried to fight back as they held a 6-3 shot advantage after pulling Palmer for an extra skater and Saint Michael's D'Antuono picked off a pass at center ice and sent the dish to the open net at 19:39 for a 4-1 lead.

On top of shot advantage, Saint Michael's won 40 of the 69 faceoffs, but Stonehill held a slight advantage in blocking shots, 19-18. The Purple Knights capitalized on 2-of-9 power plays, while the Skyhawks were unsuccessful in power plays, 0-for-5.
