EASTON, Mass. (February 6, 2016) – Senior forward Thomas DePoalo (Mendham, New Jersey/Morristown Beard School) recorded a season-high four points on three goals and one assist as Stonehill College cruised to a 6-1 victory over Assumption College this evening in Northeast-10 Conference men's ice hockey action at the Foxboro Sports Center.

DePoalo was one of three Skyhawks to post a multi-point effort this evening, upping his team-leading goal tally to 10 (3rd in NE-10) in the process. Classmate Richard Harris (Grand Island, New York/Valley Jr. Warriors) registered two assists, while sophomore Brendan White (North Reading, Massachusetts/Kimball Union Academy) totaled three points on one goal and two helpers.

Making his sixth start of the season in net, senior goaltender Patrick Farrington (Sandwich, Massachusetts/Bridgton Academy) was solid, making 28 saves in 29 opportunities. His counterpart, Assumption junior netminder Nick Commesso (Marshfield, Massachusetts/Governor's Academy) stopped seven shots but ceded three goals. Senior Chris Hemhauser (Old Saybrook, Connecticut/Glastonbury High School) took over in net at the beginning of the second period for the Greyhounds, making 19 saves on 22 shots.

Stonehill opened the scoring 5:51 into the contest, as DePoalo and White set up senior Dan Graham (Billerica, Massachusetts/Williston Northampton) for his fifth goal of the season to give the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead. White doubled the Skyhawk lead just over two minutes later, corralling a loose puck in front of the net off of a missed shot by junior forward Brian Higgins (Milton, Massachusetts/Proctor Academy) and firing it into the net. White notched his third point of the period when he set up senior forward Garrett White (Wakefield, Massachusetts/Boston Bulldogs) for a one-timer which the senior roofed. Stonehill went into the first intermission leading 3-0 despite being outshot by Assumption, 11-10.

DePoalo found the back of the net just over five minutes into the second period, and followed that up by taking advantage of an Assumption penalty at the 11:07 mark, receiving a pass from senior captain Travis Army (Englewood, Colorado/Worcester Academy) and punching it home. Sophomore forward Tommy Mahoney (Braintree, Massachusetts/Braintree) scored Assumption's lone goal midway through the second period, while classmate Brad Anderson (Matawan, New Jersey/Red Bank Catholic) and junior Kevin Murphy (North Conway, New Hampshire/Kennett) provided assists.

DePoalo netted his third goal of the game in the beginning of the third period to give him his second hat-trick of his career. Harris carried the puck up the left side of the ice and sent it across to DePoalo who beat a sprawling Hemhuaser for his fourth point of the night.

Stonehill (11-8-4, 7-0-2 NE-10) is back in action at the Foxboro Sports Center on Tuesday night when it hosts UMass Dartmouth on Senior Night at 7 p.m. Assumption (8-10-4, 2-5-1 NE-10) travels to Saint Anselm College to take on the Hawks on Tuesday as well at 7 p.m.
