Senior named NE-10 Goaltender of the Year for second consecutive season
EASTON, Mass. (February 23, 2015) – Senior Chris Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Year for the second consecutive season to highlight six All-NE-10 ice hockey selections for Stonehill College, the league office announced on Friday.
Tasiopoulos also earned a spot on the All-NE-10 first team, where he was joined by junior forward Robbie Dorgan (Ossining, New York/Boston Bulldogs) and senior defenseman Brendan Greene (Weymouth, Massachusetts/Boston Advantage). Junior defenseman Travis Army (Englewood, Colorado/Worcester Academy) garnered All-Conference second team recognition, while freshman Brendan White (North Reading, Massachusetts/Kimball Union Academy) was named NE-10 Rookie of the Year. Rounding out Stonehill's six All-NE-10 picks was freshman Tommy Newton (Hollis, New Hampshire/Portland Jr. Pirates), who landed on the All-Rookie team with White. Both Dorgan and White earned unanimous selections to their respective teams.
Tasiopoulos, who caps his career with his second consecutive NE-10 Goaltender of the Year award, led the conference in goals against average (2.22), save percentage (.929), and winning percentage (.725) while posting a record of 13-4-3 this season. The Norwell, Massachusetts native recorded 40+ saves on three occasions, including a career-best 48 in Stonehill's 1-1 tie at Saint Anselm College on February 10th.
Tasiopoulos, who registered a single-season program record five shutouts as a junior last season, turned in one this winter, stopping 33 shots in a 5-0 victory at SUNY Canton on January 18th. He made 30+ saves on nine occasions, and turned aside at least 20 shots in 17 of his 21 appearances. Tasiopoulos excelled in conference play, posting a 1.81 goals against average and a .941 save percentage while leading the Skyhawks to an unbeaten mark of 7-0-2.

In 78 career appearances and 77 starts between the pipes, Tasiopoulos recorded a 2.80 goals against average and a .916 save percentage while going 42-31-4 (.571) and posting a program record seven shutouts. In addition to his NE-10 All-Conference first team selections in 2013-14 and 2014-15, he also earned All-NE-10 second team and Rookie of the Year accolades as a freshman in 2011-12.
Greene collects his second career All-Conference selection after leading all defenseman in the NE-10 with 15 points on two goals and 13 assists this season. The senior from Weymouth, Massachusetts also anchored a defensive unit that gave up just 2.62 goals per game, the lowest mark in the conference.
Greene recorded multiple points in three contests, including in consecutive appearances against Salve Regina University (11/6) and Assumption College (11/14). He scored his first goal of the season against the Seahawks, and also found the back of the net on Senior Night against Franklin Pierce University last Wednesday night. A 2012-13 All-Conference second team selection, Greene appeared in 100 career games for the Skyhawks, totaling 48 points on nine goals and 39 assists.
Dorgan, who earns All-NE-10 first team honors for the second straight season, spearheaded a Stonehill offense that scored a conference-best 95 goals (3.96 per game) this winter. He led the team and ranked fourth in the NE-10 with 30 points on ten goals and 20 assists, and recorded multiple points in seven contests.
The Ossining, New York native turned in a season-high four-game point streak from January 17th-25th, a stretch in which he tallied 11 points on five goals and six assists. Dorgan's junior campaign was highlighted by his career-best six-point performance in Stonehill's 9-1 win over Assumption College on February 4th. Through three seasons with the Skyhawks, he has appeared in 69 games, totaling 78 points on 26 goals and 52 assists.
Army, a junior defenseman, earns his second consecutive selection to the NE-10 All-Conference second team after playing in 23 of 24 games this season and recording nine points on five goals and four assists. Army and Greene formed Stonehill's top defensive pairing as the Skyhawks gave up just 63 goals this season, 19 fewer than the second stingiest defense in the NE-10.

He scored his first goal of the season in Stonehill's 6-5 loss at SUNY Canton on January 17th, and found the back of the net again three games later in a 6-2 victory at Southern New Hampshire University. The Englewood, Colorado native capped his junior campaign by recording six points over the course of the final seven games of the season, including a two-point effort in an 8-5 win over Southern New Hampshire at the Foxboro Sports Center on February 7th. Through 72 career contests, Army has totaled 38 points on eight goals and 30 assists.
White collects Rookie of the Year honors after appearing in 22 games during his freshman season, the most among Stonehill freshmen, and recording eight points on two goals and six assists. The first-year defenseman tallied his first collegiate point, an assist, in Stonehill's 3-2 loss at the University of Southern Maine on November 1st, and before dishing out two helpers against both SUNY Canton (1/17) and Southern New Hampshire (2/7). The highlight of White's rookie campaign came on January 21st at home against Western New England University, when he spearheaded Stonehill's comeback from a 4-0 deficit with a pair of third period goals as the Skyhawks stormed back to earn a 4-4 tie.
Rounding out Stonehill's All-Conference performers for 2014-15 is Newton, who earned an All-Rookie team selection along with White after appearing in 19 of the team's 24 contests and tallying eight points on two goals and six assists. The Hollis, New Hampshire native handed out an assist in the second game of his career, a 3-2 win at Assumption.
Newton was also credited with assists in games at SUNY Canton (1/17) and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (1/29) before scoring his first collegiate goal to go with a pair helpers in Stonehill's 6-2 win over Framingham State University on January 31st. He helped set up junior Tom Jenkins' game-winning goal at Franklin Pierce on February 12th, and recorded his final point of the season, a goal, as the Skyhawks cruised to an 8-2 win over the Ravens on Senior Night.
Stonehill, which captured a share of its second consecutive regular season NE-10 title this winter, finished its 2014-15 campaign at 14-6-4, including 8-0-2 in conference play. The Skyhawks earned the second seed in the NE-10 Tournament before falling to third-seeded Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon at the Foxboro Sports Center.
