Dorgan Earns First NE-10 Player of the Week Honor

Ossining, N.Y. native records six points in two contests for Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. (December 2, 2013) – Stonehill College sophomore forward Robbie Dorgan (Ossining, N.Y./Boston Bulldogs) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Ice Hockey Player of the Week for the first time in his career, it was announced today by the league office. Dorgan registered six points over the course of two contests for the Skyhawks, including four in Stonehill's 10-3 win at Franklin Pierce University on Saturday night.

Stonehill opened up its week with a 5-3 loss to Wesleyan (Conn.) University on Tuesday night, with Dorgan assisting on Stonehill's first and last goals. The Skyhawks responded on Saturday night with a ten goal explosion at Franklin Pierce University, their highest goal output since a 10-4 win over Southern New Hampshire University on February 18th, 2010.

Dorgan assisted on classmate Richard Harris' (Grand Island, N.Y./Valley Jr. Warriors) goal just over a minute into the game, then gave the Skyhawks a 2-0 advantage midway through the opening period on a power play tally. The sophomore helped set up junior defenseman Travis Army's (Englewood, Colo./Worcester Academy) score 4:39 into the second period for his third point of the night, and then gave Stonehill a 5-1 lead three minutes later with his sixth goal of the season.

Dorgan currently ranks first in the NE-10 with 2.00 points per game, and he is tied for third with 14 total points on six goals and eight assists. He scored in Stonehill's 3-2 loss to Plymouth State University on 11/7, and again in the Skyhawks' 3-0 blanking of Assumption College on 11/13.

Last season, Dorgan earned an NE-10 Rookie of the Week award on 11/14, and he was named to the conference's All-Rookie Team following his 23-point freshman campaign. Dorgan also registered a team-best ten game point streak from 12/1-1/26, and he scored in his first collegiate game against Johnson and Wales University (10/3/12).

Dorgan is a 2010 graduate of Ossining High School, where he lettered in both ice hockey and lacrosse. He earned All-League honors in both sports during his final two seasons at Ossining High. Dorgan played junior hockey with the Boston Bulldogs (2011-12), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights (2010-11), and the New York Apple Core (2009-10), winning a national championship with the Apple Core and earning AJHL All-Star honors with the Knights.
