Carey Named NE-10 Conference Player Of The Week

EASTON, Mass. (February 20, 2012) – Stonehill College sophomore forward Bill Carey (Weymouth, Mass.) has been named the Player of the Week by the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10), it was announced earlier today.

Carey paced Stonehill's offense in a 2-0-0 week overall scoring three goals to push his point streak to seven consecutive games. The sophomore forward potted a pair of goals in a 7-3 win over Saint Michael's, and added a shorthanded tally in the Skyhawks, 3-2, come-from-behind victory over Assumption on Saturday.

Carey, who earns this award for the first time in his career, has compiled eight points over his seven game point streak with five goals and three assists. Carey has collected two points on the power play (one goal, one assist), netted one shorthanded goal and set up one game-winner during the point streak for Stonehill. During that span, the Skyhawks have earned a 4-3-0 overall record and have won their last three games.

Overall on the season, Carey is second on the team and ninth in the NE-10 in points with 21 on the season (nine goals, 12 assists). In conference play, Carey is currently in a three-way tie for the team lead in points with ten (four goals, six assists).

Carey earns his second career award from the NE-10 as he was named the conference's Rookie of the Week on January 24, 2011.

Stonehll (9-11-2, 6-3-1 NE-10) hosts Saint Anselm on Tuesday, February 21 at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks have a chance to win a share of the regular season championship with the Greyhounds and Saint Anselm with a victory over the Hawks on Tuesday.
