Skyhawks with 21 points this season.

EASTON, Mass. (January 12, 2012) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team returns to action following a 36 day holiday and exam break on Sunday when it participates in the fifth annual Andrew J. Gauthier Hockey Festival with a matchup against Becker College at Thayer Arena in Warwick, R.I., at 3 p.m. The event will raise money for the Andrew J. Gauthier Scholarship Foundation which benefits three local high school senior athletes each year.

The festival will feature seven games, two "Chuck-a-Puck" contests and plenty of raffle items for sale with all proceeds going to the Andrew J. Gauthier Scholarship Fund. Admission to the festival is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students and children under 12 are free. For the past four years the festival has featured many youth and high school teams.

Immediately following the contest between Stonehill and Becker there will be a ceremony to remember Andrew who passed away due to complications from leukemia on May 31, 2007. Andrew, a Warwick native, played hockey and baseball at Toll Gate High School. His brother, Bobby Gauthier (Narragansett, R.I.), is a senior forward on the Becker men's ice hockey team.

The Skyhawks also have ties to the Gauthier family as Bobby was coached by Stonehill head coach Patrick Leahy at the Winchendon School and was a former teammate with current assistant coach Erik Trahan, also at the Winchendon School.

Donations can also be made to the Andrew J. Gauthier Scholarship Foundation, 101 North River Dr., Narragansett, R.I., 02882.
