Pair Of Skyhawks Earn NE-10 Weekly Awards

Greene, Tasiopoulos lead Stonehill to 2-0-1 week overall

EASTON, Mass. (December 13, 2011) – Two members of the Stonehill College men's ice hockey team have earned weekly awards from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10), it was announced earlier today. Senior forward Patrick Greene (Weymouth, Mass./Catholic Memorial) collected his first-career Player of the Week award while freshman goaltender Chris Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Mass./Thayer Academy) garnered his first-career Rookie of the Week award.

Greene pro­pelled Stonehill to a 2-0-1 week overall potting three goals and dishing out six assists for nine points. On Saturday, Greene collected four points (one goal, three assists) in a 7-3 win over Suffolk University and assisted on the Skyhawks game-winning goal in a 4-2 win over Western New England on Thursday night.

Greene has tallied at least one point in his last ten contests (four goals, 16 assists) and recorded a point in every game but one this season. Greene currently leads the NE-10 in points with 21 (1.75 points per game) and assists with 17, six more than second place in the conference, for an average of 1.42 assists per game. Greene is also tied for first in the NE-10 in power play points with six (two goals, four assists) and ranks first in shorthanded points with three (all assists).

Greene becomes the first Stonehill player to earn NE-10 Player of the Week honors since teammate and rising junior Christopher Gorovitz (Framingham, Mass./Tilton School) did so on February 22, 2010.

Tasiopoulos, who was tabbed the NE-10 Goaltender of the Week earlier this season on November 15, posted a 2-0-0 record overall in two starts turning away 77 shots for a .939 save percentage and a 2.52 goals against average (GAA). Tasiopoulos recorded a career-high 44 saves against Western New England and backed up that performance with 33 saves versus Suffolk University.

In the NE-10, Tasiopoulos ranks fourth in GAA at 2.98, fourth in save percentage (.912) and is tied for third in winning percentage at .500 sporting a 5-5-0 record overall on the season, all starts.

Stonehill, undefeated in its last four contests (3-0-1), returns to action on Sunday, January 15 against Becker College, on the road, at 3:00 p.m.
