WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 20, 2010) - Franklin Pierce University rallied from a goal down late in the third period to claim a 4-3 victory in overtime against Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference ice hockey action at the Winchendon School Arena tonight.

Senior Phil LaBreck (Thornton, N.H.) led Franklin Pierce with a goal and assist, netting the game-winning goal 2:57 into overtime for his 11th marker of the season. Sophomore Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass./Williston-Northampton) dished two assists for the Ravens, setting up LaBreck's winner. Junior William Dugan (Norwood, Mass./Catholic Memorial) forced overtime by potting an unassisted goal with just 2:37 left in regulation, while sophomore Patrick Shortt (New Haven, Conn./New Hampton Prep) and freshman Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) each chipped in with goals.

Freshman Christopher Gorovitz (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) played a role in all three Stonehill goals, finishing with two goals and an assist for three points on the night. Freshman Dana Borges (Taunton, Mass./Coyle Cassidy) added a goal for the Skyhawks, while senior captain Peter Roundy (Simsbury, Conn./Kimball Union Academy) dished an assist to extend his point streak to nine games. 


Freshman Dana Borges also collected a goal for the Skyhawks.

Sophomore goaltender Ben Siok (Holden, Mass./St. John's Shrewsbury) made 25 saves, including ten in the third period, to preserve the win for Franklin Pierce. Junior Michael Manna (Framingham, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) stopped 38 shots for Stonehill, including 15 in the third period alone. Franklin Pierce finished with a 42-28 advantage in shots on goal, including a 12-5 margin in the second period. Stonehill was 1-for-4 on the power-play, while the Ravens came up empty on three chances with the man-advantage.

Shortt opened the scoring with his second goal of the season, assisted by junior Sean Woodring (Rogue River, Ore.) and sophomore Bill Sullivan (Pittsburgh, Pa.), 13:39 into the first period. Stonehill answered exactly a minute later with Gorovitz's first of the night, assisted by junior John Yokow (Windsor, Conn./Northwest Catholic) and Roundy, at 14:39. The Ravens regained the lead just 28-seconds before the first intermission with Sweeney's 12th of the season, assisted by LaBreck and Chighisola.

Stonehill evened the game again with a power-play goal 2:32 into the second period as Gorovitz and junior Andrew Webb (Jaffrey, N.H./Westminister School) set up Borges for his fifth goal of the season. The Skyhawks took the lead two minutes into the third period as Gorovitz potted his tenth of the year, unassisted.

Dugan forced overtime with his first collegiate goal, unassisted, before LaBreck clinched the victory for the Ravens with his 11th of the year, assisted by Chighisola, 2:57 into overtime.

Stonehill (9-13-1, 2-7-0 NE-10) is back in action on Tuesday when it visits Saint Michael's College at 6 p.m. The Skyhawks final regular season home game will be Thursday when they host Saint Anselm College for Senior Night at 7 p.m. Franklin Pierce (7-14-2, 4-6-1 NE-10) awaits the final pairings for the NE-10 Tournament which begins with first round action next Saturday, February 27.
