EASTON, Mass. (December 5, 2018) – Stonehill College placed three in double-figures to earn its fourth win over its last five games with a 70-61 decision over Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball action on Paula Sullivan Court at Merkert Gymnasium tonight.

Junior swingman Will Moreton notched a double-double for the second-straight game and fourth time this season overall (11th career) with game-highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds, while adding three assists, two steals and a blocked shot. He made 7-of-15 shots from the floor and converted all six free throw attempts in moving closer to becoming the program's 40th 1,000-point scorer with 948 career points.

Junior Brandon Twitty made 6-of-14 shots and all five free throws for 18 points for Stonehill, while sophomore Owen Chose added a season-high matching 15 points, with three rebounds. Senior Michael Boen chipped in with eight points, seven boards (five offensive) and two assists.

Sophomore Matthew Kelly led Assumption with 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting, four rebounds and two assists. Freshman Michael Speight was the only other Greyhound in double-figures with 11 points, while classmate Cal Connelly added nine points on 3-of-5 shooting from three-point distance. Junior Damien Rance registered eight points, four boards, five assists and two steals, while classmate Branislav Vujadinovic chipped in seven points and six rebounds.

Assumption scored eight of the last ten points in the first half to grab a one-point halftime lead (31-30) as sophomore Malik Brown scored a jumper in the lane as time expired. Stonehill quickly reclaimed the lead with a Moreton jumper on its second possession of the second half and the Skyhawks grabbed a four-point lead (40-36) with another Moreton basket three-minutes in.

The Stonehill run extended to 13-6 after a Moreton three-point play two minutes later gave the Skyhawks a seven-point advantage (43-36). Stonehill stretched its lead to eight on a Chose layup with 12:56 remaining, before hitting double-figures (52-42) when Moreton made a pair at the line with 11-minutes to go.

Assumption closed the gap to two (54-52) when junior Patrick Fleming canned a three-pointer to cap a 10-2 spurt with seven minutes left. Stonehill held, reclaiming an eight-point cushion (60-52) with 4:25 on the clock, after four-straight points from Moreton. The Skyhawks wouldn't let the Greyhounds back within five points the rest of the way, securing their second-straight win after Boen drained all four free throws in the final 1:23, to go with a Twitty layup.

Stonehill (6-4, 3-3 NE10) is right back in action at Merkert Gym on Saturday, when it continues a five-game home stand that will stretch into the New Year against Southern New Hampshire University for its Alumni Day Game at 3:30 p.m. Assumption (4-5, 0-4 NE10) is off until next Saturday, December 15, when it hosts Chestnut Hill College at 3 p.m.
