EASTON, Mass. (February 25, 2016) – A program record matching three members of the Stonehill College men's basketball team have earned All-Northeast-10 Conference honors as selected by the league's 15 head coaches the Conference office announced today.
Junior forward Ryan Logan (Fredericktown, Ohio/Fredericktown) headlines Stonehill's three selections by earning first team All-Northeast-10 honors for the first time in his career. Seniors Carter Smith (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Pierce Cumpstone (Bainbridge Township, Ohio/Kenston) joined Logan with third team All-NE-10 accolades. It marks the third time Stonehill has placed a record three student-athletes on the All-Northeast-10 teams and the first since the 2005-06 season when head coach Chris Kraus '06 was joined by teammates Sean Nelson '06 and Marquis Taylor '06 with All-Conference selections. Stonehill also had three All-NE-10 picks in 1986-87.
Logan, who was a third team All-Northeast-10 honoree last season, is Stonehill's first first team pick since A.J. Rudowitz '10 in 2009-10 and the first junior to earn first team honors since Rudowitz in 2008-09. Logan is the 15th All-Northeast-10 first team selection in program history, while the trio gives Stonehill 37 All-Conference honorees all-time.
Logan, who earned NE-10 All-Rookie Team honors as a freshman, is the sixth player in program history to earn All-Northeast-10 honors multiple seasons. He is one of three Stonehill players to start all 27 games so far, leading the Skyhawks with 17.3 points per game (11th NE-10), shooting 44.5-percent from the field and 73.6-percent from the free-throw line (67-91), with 8.4 rebounds (7th), a team-high four assists (6th) and a steal per game. Logan, a two-time Spalding NE-10 Player of the Week this season (three career), is second in the team with nine double-doubles (18 career), leading the team in scoring ten times and rebounding 11 games.

Logan, who became the program's 39th 1,000-point scorer in a 78-44 victory over the University of New Haven on January 12, has started all 82 of the games he has played over his three year career. He has moved up to 25th on the program's career scoring list with 1,163 points (14.2 ppg), shooting 44-percent from the field, including 36.6% from three-point range (93-254), and converting 70.8% of his free-throws (204-288). Logan has also tallied 599 rebounds (7.3/gm) and 228 assists over his career.
Smith, who was an honorable mention All-Northeast-10 selection as a junior, earns a spot on the third team this season. He has also started all 27 games this winter and is averaging 16.3 points per game (12th NE-10) on 46-percent shooting, including 45.6% (82-for-180) from three-point distance (6th), connecting at 85% (85-100) from the free-throw line (9th). Smith is second on the team with 3.9 assists (8th) per game, while adding 2.6 rebounds and a team-high 1.4 steals (5th) in 33.5 minutes per game (11th). He has tallied a pair of double-doubles this season, both on points and assists, leading Stonehill in scoring ten times – including six of the Skyhawks last eight games.
Smith has appeared in 108 games over his Stonehill career, starting 84, and became the program's 38th 1,000-point scorer in the Skyhawks 89-85 win at Bloomfield College on December 20. He currently ranks 19th on the program's career scoring list with 1,278 points (11.8 ppg) and is one of just four players in program history with over 200 career three-pointers, ranking third all-time with 232. Smith, who set a Northeast-10 record by converting 92.3-percent of his free-throws (60-for-65) in 2014-15, is an 83.8-percent shooter from the line for his career (212-253), shooting 42.4% from three-point range (232-547) and 43.5% from the floor overall. He has also tallied 358 assists (3.3/gm), 264 rebounds and 99 steals over his career. Smith has also been named to the NE-10's Commissioner's Honor Roll for his efforts in the classroom two semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status one semester.
Cumpstone earns All-Northeast-10 honors for the first time in his career with his third team selection. He has started 18 of the 26 games he has played this season and is third on the team with 13.9 points per game to go with a team-high 9.8 rebounds (4th NE-10) and 1.8 blocked shots (5th) per game, shooting a team-best 53.7-percent from the floor (9th), including 40.6% (41-101) from three-point distance, and converting 75% (33-44) of his free-throws. Cumpstone leads the team with 11 double-doubles (15 career), including a run of six straight in February, having led the Skyhawks in scoring four times and rebounding 17 games. He earned Spalding NE-10 Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career on February 8.
Cumpstone, who has earned CoSIDA Academic All-District I first team honors for his efforts on and off the court, has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll all seven semesters and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll five semesters. He has played 94 games over his Stonehill career, starting 28, and has totaled 893 points (9.5 ppg) and 548 rebounds (5.8/gm) with 111 blocked shots. Cumpstone is a 45.9-percent shooter from the field and 76% (73-for-96) at the line for his career.
Stonehill (20-7, 15-6 NE-10), the No. 3 seed from the Northeast-10's Northeast Division and ranked fifth in this week's NCAA Division II East Regional rankings, opens postseason play on Sunday with a Northeast-10 Quarterfinal at Southwest No. 2-seed Adelphi University (20-8, 12-8 NE-10) at 3 p.m.
