Fazzini's career-best 22 points leads Skyhawks who shoot 53.6-percent from three-point range
Junior guard Adam Fazzini (Drums, Pa./Crestwood) led Stonehill with a career-best 22 points (18 in the first half) in 28 minutes off the bench as he hit 8-of-11 shots from the field, including 5-for-6 from three-point range, to go with four rebounds and two assists. Senior Patrick Lee (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) posted his third double-double of the season (sixth career) with 14 points and ten rebounds, with two assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Junior Brian Hamor (Schenectady, N.Y./Bishop Gibbons) added 16 points (13 second half), while senior Andre Tongo (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) finished with ten points, five steals, three assists and two boards.
Stonehill finished shooting 51.8-percent (29-for-56) from the field after a white-hot first half which saw the Skyhawks make 63-percent (17-for-27) of their shots from the field, including 10-for-16 (62.5%) from three-point range. Stonehill made 15-of-28 (53.6%) three-pointers overall and out-rebounded Holy Family 32-28. The Skyhawks enjoyed a 29-9 advantage in points off turnovers (21-5 first half), committing just 11 themselves, while the Tigers had 18 giveaways.

Senior Rickie Crews (Deptford, N.J./Deptford) led Holy Family with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field, including both three-point attempts, to go with four rebounds and three blocked shots. Sophomore Alberto Munoz (Morrisville, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) added ten points, four rebounds and two steals, while freshman Eric Fleming (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) posted ten points, shooting 3-for-5 from the field, including 2-for-3 from deep, and converting both free-throw attempts, to go with two rebounds and a steal in 13 minutes off the bench.
Holy Family shot 53.1-percent from the field (26-49), but just 42.9% (9-21) in the first half to dig a 24 point (47-23) halftime deficit from which it couldn't recover, and hit 11-of-22 (50%) of its three-point attempts, including 8-for-14 (57.1%) in the second half.
Stonehill used a 23-2 run over a seven minute span in the first half that turned a four point (18-14) lead into a 25 point cushion (41-16) after a three-pointer from sophomore Mitch Amelio (Carlsbad, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) with 4:53 to play in the half. The Skyhawks buried five three-pointers during that stretch, while holding Holy Family without a field goal for over nine minutes.
Stonehill extended the lead to 26 (44-18) after a Fazzini three with 2:06 left in the half before settling on a 24 point lead (47-23) at the break when Tongo canned a three ball with two seconds remaining. The Skyhawks kept hitting to start the second half, extending their lead to 31 with a three-pointer by junior Sam Markle (Bethany, Conn./Saint Thomas More) 2:13 in.
Holy Family led just once on the night (5-2) after a three by Crews 1:27 into the contest. Stonehill answered right away with a three from Hamor and then pushed the lead to six (18-12) with a Markle free-throw with 11:31 to play in the frame before its game breaking run.
Holy Family tried to make a push in the second half, drawing within 19 (65-46) after a layup from Crews at the midway point and 16 (71-55) with 6:14 to play after a Crews three and layup by junior Khiry Hankins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day School). The Tigers closed the gap to 15 (75-60) with a three by senior Sam Mushman (Hackettstown, N.J./Pope John XXIII) with 3:43 remaining, but time had run out on the comeback attempt.
Stonehill (8-2, 5-2 NE-10) is right back in action tomorrow when it closes out 2011 with a matchup against host Philadelphia at 3 p.m. Holy Family (5-5, 1-2 CACC) will face Assumption College tomorrow at 1 p.m.
