Skyhawks yield just three shots, post third shutout of the season

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 12, 2019) – Stonehill College, ranked No 10 in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, posted its third shutout of the season in notching a 2-0 bounce back win at American International College in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Ronald J. Abdow Field this afternoon.

Stonehill yielded just four shots in the contest, all in the fourth quarter, to post its third shutout of the season. Junior Katie Lammando finished with two saves in the shutout effort, which was keyed by the defensive efforts of senior Michaela Antonellis, junior McKenzie Woerner and freshman Andrea Caradonna.

Caradonna also stepped into the attack and netted her first collegiate goal for Stonehill, while sophomore Elisha Brinkman also scored a goal for the Skyhawks.

Sophomore Jessica Stone kept American International in the game with 12 saves. Stonehill finished with a 19-4 advantage for shots, and a 10-2 edge in penalty corners.

her first collegiate goal, when she collected a rebound off a penalty corner and put the ball away on the right side. Brinkman added an insurance marker 8:15 into the fourth quarter off a corner pass by sophomore Emma Mawn, finding the left side of the cage for her third goal of the year.

Stonehill (7-4, 7-2 NE10) returns to action on Friday, October 18, when it hosts seventh-ranked Adelphi University for its Mental Health Awareness Game at W.B. Mason Stadium at 2 p.m. AIC (8-4, 4-4 NE10) visits Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
